Fabulous tour - Absolutely sensational tour with Julian. We were able to explore so many areas we would never have seen otherwise and most were without any crowds. A definite highlight of our trip to Japan so far. Highly recommended - a fabulous day.

Kyoto is great for cycling - One of the best cycling tours I've been to. Juan knew the route perfectly, made sure we kept hydrated and in the shade plus showed us around the best spots. Didn't just drop us off. Very friendly and all the electric bikes worked well. Even in the summer heat it was an absolute pleasure.

Early bird catches the temple - Our tourgide Indra did a great job of showing us the hidden gems of East Kyoto! He was very friendly and knowledgeable about all kinds of information about Kyoto. Getting up early is a must so it will be less crowded at the popular places. Given the heat of Kyoto, using the E-bikes is a must. Indra selected a place that served an excellent lunch! We were glad that he was our tour guide.

Amazing tour of Kyoto with an incredible tour guide!!! - Thoroughly loved this tour - every second of it! We went on a well-planned route that circled around Kyoto and gave a great sense of a beautiful and expansive city with key sites and areas. This general understanding was super helpful for us afterwards as a frame of reference for when we toured the city afterwards. Plus, the bike ride was just incredibly enjoyable on its own with the variety of cityscapes and landscapes - the route winding its way alongside the Duck River was awesome. A critical part of the experience was definitely our phenomenal tour guide, Mayco. She set the ground rules and directions so that the execution along the route was very clear got us straight to where we needed to go. Beyond the route itself, Mayco also was really knowledgeable about the sites and the history - our group (including myself) asked some pretty deep questions about the history and politics and she really went above-and-beyond to answer our questions. I really appreciated that she also specifically showed a few of her favorite finer detailed aspects of what we were touring, like the quirky and unique shapes of how some of the special Kyoto woodworkers fixed the wooden floor of the temples to resemble different figures like birds, dogs, and pears! Overall, the bike tour was an amazingly informative experience, great for both mind *and* heart! There’s nothing like biking on a hot day, feeling the breeze past you, as you ride around an incredible city *and* learn about the rich tapestry of history and meaning that underlies the beauty of the external facades of everything you see in Kyoto. I highly recommend taking the opportunity with Cycle Kyoto and add an even higher recommendation to see if you can get a tour led by Mayco!

What a treat, BEST way to see Kyoto!! - Booking the cycling tour of Kyoto was one of the best decisions we made on our trip! We would not have been able to see all the amazing sights we saw on foot due to time restrictions, so being able to fit so much into one day was perfect! Karl was the perfect guide, informative, funny and very generous with his time. We had the best day and the lunch venue was a real treat. I wouldn't hesitate booking a day with Karl on an e-bike to see the best of Kyoto packed with great commentary and laughter! Thanks Karl!!
