Join us for an enchanting night walking tour through the Gion District’s geisha streets and discover the “real Kyoto.” Our expert guide will reveal the hidden intricacies of the exclusive world of geishas and the enigmatic Shinto shrines.
This walking tour covers several geisha districts, shrines, and the beautifully preserved historic areas of Kyoto’s Higashiyama district. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Our guide is a native English speaker, known for clear and easy-to-understand communication. With extensive knowledge, the guide is prepared to answer all your questions thoroughly.
During the break, the guide will choose a refreshing Kyoto snack. While it’s a small snack and not a full meal, every effort will be made to accommodate dietary restrictions, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Seeing the real Kyoto - Richard is very knowledable. His tour brought us to some great places for photos. I recommend it highly I give it a 20 out of 10

Lovely Night - Guide was very courteous , kind and knowledgeable . I had a great time and enjoyed it immensely. Recommend to see the area at night when the streets are not covered with tourist . The night scene is very pretty

Gion Night Tour - Our tour through the Gion district in Kyoto was incredible! Excellent tour - Absolutely loved this tour and would strongly recommend it to anyone seeking to get to know Kyoto/Gion better. The locations we visited were absolutely beautiful. Richard was a truly excellent guide - we really valued his extensive knowledge as a local and his passion for the region. He was an attentive guide, and catered to our pace. Thank you for answering our (many!) questions about geikos and Kyoto in general. All of your recommendations for other things to do in town were also spot on!

Magical geisha tour - My husband and i went on this magical geisha tour with richard. He was great. Vast knowledge about the geisha culture as well as other Japanese culture. He took us right into the little alley ways in Gion and explained more about the culture. He also gave us some recommendations on other sites to visit as well as some food which was awesome! He definitely went above and beyond to make sure that all of us had a great time. It was a very cold night, he gave us hand warmer to help make us feel warmer, which i find it was a very nice. Overall we had an awesome time doing this tour and definitely will recommend it to our family and friends.

Incredible BTS of Kyoto and Geisha culture - Richard is incredibly educated on the topic and shares great stories passionately! He gave us insights into the culture and the city we could never have gotten on our own and showed us amazing nooks and crannies of Kyoto. We did two different tours with Richard, and I wish we had had time for more! Also, DELICIOUS local treats!

This tour in Japan was... - This tour in Japan was one of the most memorable experiences from our travel. It's challenging to put into words how amazing and
extraordinary was this tour.
Richard, our knowledgeable guide, paid meticulous attention
to every detail, providing us with captivating insights about geishas and their culture, as well as deepening our understanding of traditional Japanese. For the first time, we tried a dessert with unique textures and flavors and expanded our culinary horizons.
The hours spent on this tour were filled with pure enjoyment, happiness, and new discoveries.

Truly a Magical Night - This was such a fun excursion! Seeing the historic area of Kyoto at night is definitely something one must experience and having a guide like Richard to lead you through the stone streets is nothing short of amazing. His knowledge of the history of his hometown and Geisha culture is deep and my daughter and I learned so much in such a short time. We went in December and stopping for a Kyoto snack of Udon mid tour was perfect. Be prepared to walk a lot but also have your cameras ready because along with his deep knowledge of history, Richard knows all of the best vantage spots for photos overlooking Kyoto and the monumental temples and shrines. Thank you Richard for teaching us about your culture and how to travel through culturally significant spaces with respect.
