- I didn't know the many possibilities of shibori, I learned a lot! They gave me an explanation with all the patience in the world, they like to share their knowledge. The works of art in the museum, although small, are very worthwhile for lovers of traditional Japanese textiles.

So much fun!!! - This class was GREAT!!! I'm not a particularly artistic person, but I loved every minute. Even more surprising, my teenage sons enjoyed it too! Everyone who works at the museum where the classes are held is wonderful -- helpful, kind, and just a whole lot of fun. Highly recommend!

We loved it - The class itself was fun and educational but my favorite part was the small museum upstairs and learning about it the family history.

🌸 Silk Scarf Dyeing Workshop at Kyoto Shibori Museum – A Creative Highlight of Our Trip! 🎨 - Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of taking part in an itajime shibori silk scarf dyeing workshop at the Kyoto Shibori Museum, and it was an unforgettable experience. The workshop was hands-on, inspiring, and surprisingly relaxing – a perfect blend of culture, art, and fun. The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, guiding us through the traditional Japanese techniques with patience and encouragement. We each got to design our own silk scarf using the itajime (fold and clamp) method, choosing our colors and patterns. Watching the dyes take to the silk and then unfolding our pieces to reveal the final design was like unwrapping a little piece of magic. ✨ It was creative, satisfying, and so beautifully Japanese. We all came away wanting to do it again — and with our very own, one-of-a-kind silk scarves to take home. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants to dive into traditional Japanese craftsmanship in a hands-on way!
