10/10 would do again! - This experience was incredible, it seriously exceeded all our expectations… ended up being a highlight of our Japan trip. Mao our instructor was hilarious, had fantastic English, very patient, knowledgeable and kind. We learnt so much and it was far more hands on than we expected . From forging the metal into a knife shape to refining it then actually sharpening it. We did the entire process with some guidance from Mao. It was physical , definitely need some strength however mao helped if you needed it. We did this as a group of friends (5 of us) and this was a perfect group activity. My favourite part was definitely refining the knife on the sandpaper , it was extremely satisfying shaping it . I would highly recommend this experience. We took an uber from Kyoto , it was easy to find. Bonus was Mao’s cutest little dog called Hime (princess) if I recall correctly . Anyway this is 100% worth booking, best experience and even better souvenir to take home.

It's totally worth it. - Amazing experience! I went with my husband and we both had a great time although it is an activity of a little more brute force because you hammer the metal but the truth is that it was amazing. We learned a lot from how knives are forged and talked about katanas. It was a group of 7, attention 10/10, the explanation in English without problem, it was easy to get there using the maps app, the knife was beautiful even though I personally had never, ever, ever done anything like this. Of course, I ended up physically exhausted, to be reckoned with. I definitely recommend this experience!

Highlight of our holiday. - A highlight of our holiday. A lifetime keepsake with fun memories. The Japanese men who ran the workshop spoke enough English to understand what we were doing and were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
