Informative and Custom Tour! - We had a great time doing the tour in Kyoto. Our guide, Kaeko Tanigawa, helped us with everything and was very informative. It was not simply a tour where you walk around and see things, but the guide is a good teacher as well. I highly recommend it!

Fun with Shun - On our recent trip to Kyoto, we were fortunate enough to be matched with a guide named Shun. He met us in our hotel lobby with a map at the ready, and a permanent smile. We started our trip at the Golden Pavilion, Kinkakuji, a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Shun explained the origin of this wonderful place as only a local guide can. Maybe most importantly, he made it interesting to our ten and twelve year old boys. Shun then took us to the Nijo Castle, where he explained how this massive structure was divided into three areas: "the Honmaru (main circle of defense), the Ninomaru (secondary circle of defense) and some gardens around them." And then he explained why the floors squeaked when walked upon... which turned out to be on the coolest stories of the day. It turns out that these castle floors (called Nightingale floors) were built in a way that made the nails rub against the metal clamps securing the foundational structure, which caused them to Chirp, which alerted the guards to anyone trespassing. Our next stop was the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, or the KANNON REIJO. This temple was dedicated to a deity named Kannon. And this 1200 year old temple held significant meaning to our family, because we named our youngest son after this Buddhist deity. Our many hours with Shun were chock full of fun, education, and some wonderful food. We snacked on Kobe beef, octopus, and rice balls from some of the local markets and vendors. Shun seemed to enjoy the rice balls the most... our boys are still talking about the Kobe beef. When our tour was complete, Shun then walked us to the train that took us back to our hotel. Before we boarded, our little boys hugged him, as did their parents. And on the ride home, we all realized that we just had the best guide any family could ask for. We missed Shun immediately. We hope you are fortunate enough to have Shun guide your upcoming tour. The Dumont Family.

Two Days in Kyoto with Mimmy - Mimmy was a great guide. She guided us for two days in a row and got us around to all the sites we wanted to see. We only had two days and she was very helpful and got us around in the fast pace that we needed. Using a guide makes the visit so much easier.

Excellent Tour of Kyoto with Japan Guide Agency and Shun - We booked this private tour to see a few of the main areas on our first day in Kyoto. After we booked the tour, our assigned guide, Shun’ichi Okazaki (Shun), contacted us to find out what we were interested in seeing and doing, and we finalised our agreed (but flexible) itinerary easily. Shun was very friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us a very informative tour of Nijo Castle, Gion and downtown Kyoto, and we can highly recommend Japan Guide Agency (and Shun).

Great Experience & Guide - Our family booked a 4 hour tour for Kyoto and we had a great time learning the history behind the temples we visited. Our guide Shige did an excellent job accommodating for our kids too. We visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine and Nijō Castle and found them both to be spectacular! We had more things planned but traveling with our kids made it more challenging to make it to the other locations but Shige was very kind and willing to accommodate.

Good tour experience - We had a good experience with our tour guide, Nori. The tour could have been slightly more engaging, but overall we were able to see everything we wanted to see and had a good time.
