Kinkakuji Temple - Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is a famous Zen Buddhist temple. Officially named Rokuon-ji, the temple is renowned for its top two floors, which are entirely covered in gold leaf. Originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it was later converted into a Zen temple after his passing. The temple has been destroyed by fire several times throughout history, with the current structure dating back to 1955, following a reconstruction after a monk set it ablaze in 1950.
