- A moderate amount of walking is involved. Please wear comfortable walking shoes
- This is a walking tour. We don’t use a private van. We take a public transportation during the tour. That cost is not included and depending on your destination and hotel.
- Please provide your hotel information. Without it, we could not arrange your meetup.
- The tour will take place rain or shine.

Half day Kyoto tour - Kiyoto was very informative and a delight to have as our guide. He was conscious of my parents slower pace and made accommodations so that they can enjoy the trip as well. Thank you for a wonderful tour!

A perfect way to start your time in Kyoto - We had a fantastic tour with Keiko. Although we had discussed options for our tour via email, I particularly liked that we decided on our route when we met… she had prepared maps explaining the routes and what might suit our family best. Over the tour she shared lots of information, her English was great, and made suggestions for the rest of our time in Kyoto. We would highly recommend a tour with Keiko… you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing time in Kyoto with Mr. JJ - Mr Yagyu Yasunobu (JJ) was our tour guide for Kyoto. He picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back. He went above and beyond for us. We had a magical time in Kyoto with a full bloom of cherry blossoms in the behind. He is very detail-oriented and thorough. Since I booked the tour, he has been very prompt and reached out to me by email, asking my preferences and what I would like to do in Kyoto. He made sure the itinerary was customized to meet my requirements. He goes out of his way to help you. He made our trip beautiful and lovely. I asked him for some recommendations, and he came back to me as soon as he got back home to help me. I was looking for a Shinto book. He ordered it online and brought it to our hotel (Ofc after asking my permission). His hospitability for travelers is simply inspiring and unforgettable. I recommend him to anyone who is coming to Kyoto and wants to have a good time

Fabulous tour with Toshi of beautiful Kyoto! - We had the most amazing tour with Toshiya Yamada in mid-March! Toshi went above and beyond to show us the highlights of Kyoto in one day! He had done meticulous planning to allow us to see everything we wanted with limited time. He was full of knowledge, funny, and kind. He had also arranged a wonderful lunch near Arashiyama with a beautiful view of the river. He took beautiful family photos, too! And, as if that wasn't enough, Toshi recommended a fabulous conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kyoto Tower for dinner. Thank you so much Toshi for a fabulous tour of amazing Kyoto!

Amazing experience touring Kyoto! - Kiyoto was an excellent guide! I had an amazing time touring Kyoto with him, and we saw every site that I wanted to visit (along with several others that I didn’t know about)! Kiyoto was happy to work with me to customize my itinerary to fit in everything I wanted to see in my limited time in Kyoto, and even though it was a packed day, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch and I never felt like we were rushing to get anywhere.
I would love to book another tour with Kiyoto in the future!

Guide customized the ideal itinerary for us. - When we booked the tour we asked our guide, Toshi, to create an itinerary for us with the following criteria: any 2 Buddhist temples and/or Shinto shrines of his choosing and then to fill the remaining time with locations and activities that he enjoyed sharing with visitors. Toshi did not disappoint us—he was able to fit 8 places/activities into our short, 4h tour. Our first destination was the towering gate and massive buildings of Heian Shrine. Knowledgeable and prepared, Toshi had transformed a large sketchbook into a set of notecards to teach us the history of each location. Here Toshi taught us the proper way to pray at a Shinto shrine. We then took a tour of the impressive Heian Gardens. Next, we strolled along the Biwa canal—lined with cherry blossoms in full bloom—to reach the Nanzen-ji Temple. Here Toshi taught us how to sit in and perform traditional Buddhist zazen meditation. Next, we made our way over to the Suirokaku Aqueduct where he gave us ample time to take pictures of the beautiful arches. We then took a rather steep hike up to visit the oldest shrine in Kyto, the Himukai Daijingu Shrine. After we came down, we walked along the Keage Incline to take pictures with the cherry blossoms. We ended our tour by visiting one of Toshi’s favorite places in Kyoto, the Murin-an Gardens. We had a wonderful afternoon and are thankful for Toshi’s excellent itinerary and guidance!

Excellent full day tour of Kyoto with Kenji - kenji was an amazing tour guide. He was very patient with my young kids. He also provided important insights and historic information, using visual materials in addition to his knowledge. Highly recommended

Excellent Kyoto tour - We had an excellent day with our guide Kiyoto travelling around Kyoto seeing some amazing places. We would not have seen nearly as much on our own. Kiyoto was very friendly and told us lots of interesting information about the places we visited and also about Japanese culture.

A day well spent - We signed up for the 8hour custom tour. Our guide was Saeko and she gave us a great tour of the highlights of Kyoto. We used all modes of public transport, JR trains, private trains, bus, taxis. It was a good insight into understanding the transportation. By ourselves we would take a lot more time figuring things out. She kept our kids involved as well was conscious of them being little and how much they could handle in the 8hours.
We did connect via email before the trip and gave her some input into what we wanted to see and asked her for her opinion as well.
We started off the day with seeing "must see" places as tourists within Kyoto.. The bamboo grove and area around, golden temple, local shrines. She introduced us to lunch at coco where we ended up going multiple times later. She kept us informed of Japanese culture, history and was very patient with answering all our questions. Later she showed us around central district and took us to the basement food court in the mall. Then we ended in the Gion neighborhood. We definitely got introduced to a lot of day to day living of the local which we would not have not known had we not spent the day with Saeko. It was definitely time well spent with a guide vs trying to do all this by ourselves.
Oh and the Strawberry icecream we had with her was delicious :)
In case you are the type who likes to have the day planned out please ensure everything is planned in email before you meet the guide. We did plan on few things but kept half of the day open to just go with the flow. It worked out for us. And although 8hrs seem like a long time do note that the places are all far apart and travelling will take up quite a lot of time, so don't expect to cover more than 4-5 spots at best. Rather soak in the places you visit in the day.

Not worth it - The trip was poorly organized, within 8 hours we expected to visit more than 3,5 places. If I book a tour, I expect to be guided, otherwise if I could do this without her and save my money
