Do this on your 1st day in Kyoto - Maki created a most magical day for the four of us - our girst trip to Japan and day 1 was Kyoto eBike tour with her. Her energy and connection to an ancient spiritual origin created an unforgettable experience for us. Thanks Maki - can’t wait to do it again on our next trip.

Great way to see a lot of Kyoto - I was very lucky as I was the only customer that day so I ended up having a private tour. It was a lot of fun to bike through the back streets of Kyoto and see both temples and the daily life of the locals. Maki speaks good English and is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. This tour stops at Fushimi Inari, but you don't have time to explore the temple ground in detail, but you see enough to get a good feeling. 10/10 would do again!

Perfect in Every Way …. - Maki is AMAZING - from the kind What’s App communication right through to meeting her we knew we were with the right girl. We went to Gion and learned about the Geisha culture, then onto a shrine (the name eludes me but Maki says its top secret anyway) followed by the famous Fushimi Shrine where she also explained more about its origins and Japanese culture. The thing we appreciated is that she didn’t do long explanations which became boring but did her best to explain in a way that connected with our own understanding and culture. It was a little humid so she took us to an air conditioned ice cream and tea cafe where we sat and chatted and learned more about each other during a short rest. After that we rode along the riverside back toward the bike store. The bikes are easy to use and manage, we always felt safe and we weren’t part of a big group. I am confident that Pedal Adventures and Maki will do their very best to make your experience a memorable one. I was particularly grateful for the map she provided with tips for more adventures in Kyoto. And her English is very, very good. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

A perfect blend of history, scenery and warmth! - My husband and I recently took a fantastic bike tour around Kyoto with Maki, and it was such an enjoyable experience. Maki was an excellent guide – friendly, personable and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the temples and shrines we visited. We covered a wide variety of places, including the Sanjo area, Maiko district, Mi-Mi Zuka, Yougen-in, Tofukuji Temple, and Fushimi Shrine, with Maki sharing fascinating insights at every stop. Her great sense of humor and depth of knowledge really brought the sites to life. The pace of the tour was perfect – relaxed yet thorough, allowing us to take in everything without feeling rushed. The ride itself was not strenuous, and I especially loved the peaceful bike ride along the Kamo River to finish the day. It was the perfect way to end the tour, with the sun setting and the calm atmosphere along the river creating a wonderfully peaceful experience. Maki was always helpful and accommodating, making sure we were comfortable throughout. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Kyoto in a fun, informative and relaxed way!

Back streets and local vibes of Kyoto - We had such a fantastic guide! She was super knowledgeable about the area and also brought up stories about her family and the city which was lovely. It was also not my first time to Kyoto so I was extra surprised to discover all the new back streets and places I missed when I was on my own. She was very considerate to avoid the busier roads too and I especially enjoyed the river side cycling. Fully recommend her for getting a genuine local vibe in your tour!
