Essential - Tour essential to know the most emblematic places of kioto. The guides (angels and Alejandro) were very friendly and even recommended local restaurants. We had a great day!

A highly recommended experience - The experience was very complete and very well organized. In a very practical way it reached all the points of greatest interest. The guides, Vicente and Hector were great Kita san or Kitado san, unfortunately we don't remember the driver's name well, it was very kind Highly recommended

Lovely guides Alekhandro and Angeles - Good timing and key spots They gave us space to go around each key location post giving us all tips and info. No rush but enough time to do what we want on our own as well

Worthwhile Way to Sample Kyoto - Angeles and Alejandro were great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. They did a seamless transition between English and Spanish throughout. The stops were great but note that they’re all very popular. Hence, we liked that it started early since at least the first stop was emptier and more relaxing. By the time we reached the second stop everything was crowded. Also note that there is a lot of walking. Partly because of how far the main interest points are from the entrance gates and partly because the bus can only get so close (cars and metro will get closer to some of the stops.)

Kyoto day tour - Vicente and Hector were very nice and personable. Vicente was very knowledgeable at all the sites we stopped at. They both made sure everyone understood the rules and how important it was to be on time at all the stops. It is nice that they are bilingual and I would highly recommend for both English and Spanish speakers.

Terrible experience – Unprofessional and disappointing - I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience with Amigos Tours in Kyoto was frustrating from start to finish. The customer service was shockingly poor, and the guides displayed very little knowledge of the sites we were visiting. We expected historical insight and cultural context, but what we got felt like vague commentary with little substance. To make matters worse, they were aggressively pushing for tips and online reviews throughout the day, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. It felt more like a hustle than a guided tour. One particular moment stood out—they recommended a dirty burger joint for lunch, claiming it was “fast” and convenient. Thankfully, we trusted our instincts and sought out our own dining option, which turned out to be an incredible Japanese meal in the heart of Kyoto. Had we followed their advice, we would’ve missed one of the best parts of our day. Kyoto deserves better representation than what Amigos Tours provided. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a meaningful or professional tour experience in Japan.

The worst experience of the trip. - We’ve never had a worse experience than taking a tour with these “amigos”. Their expertise on the subject matter at hand was thin, their attitude towards their customers was rude, they repeatedly asked for tips in a country where that is considered quite rude and were even confrontational to an unnerving degree to simple questions by our fellow travelers. We’ve traveled extensively through Europe and Asia, taking endless tours of every place imaginable and nothing we’ve encountered even compares with the service provided by these jokers. Not only did they neglect doing their homework, they actively denied people of the tiniest opportunity to enjoy what Japan had to offer with their crass outlook. On top of that, they exhibited a degree of neglect that almost bordered on open hostility. Needless to say, we will tell all our friends and family to avoid them at all costs. Thanks for ruining our vacation, “amigos”!
