Our tea room, cherished for three generations, is situated near Daitokuji Temple, a site significant to Japanese tea culture. Although it has an antique charm, every effort is made to ease the fatigue from your journey in Japan. Initially, a tea master with 50 years of expertise will demonstrate the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After savoring a cup of tea accompanied by seasonal sweets, the historical context of the tea ceremony will be shared. Finally, you will have the opportunity to make tea yourself. Great tea ceremony and photos! - Our hosts were amazing and gave such a wonderful insight into this part of Kyoto culture. It was so much fun and so interesting learning about tea ceremonies from a master who selected our theme, sweets and tea sets for us. Getting to dress in a kimono and having those photos taken was very special. Definitely a favourite memory from our trip!

This was arguably one of... - This was arguably one of the best experiences of my trip to Japan. My wife and I were welcomed at the door with such warmth and excitement. We were fitted with the most beautiful Kimonos we had ever seen. The collection is so impressive. After a great photo shoot we were dazzled by the ceremony by the tea master. I can’t express enough how magical it was to witness such dedication and devotion. The history provided afterward was informative and appreciated. Getting to attempt the ceremony ourselves was so enjoyable. I highly recommend this experience to everyone visiting Kyoto!

Informative & harmonious experience! - Wearing kimono was amazing. Opening ceremony. Learning how to make the tea by doing it ourselves with guidance of tea master. We really enjoyed the peaceful energy of the tea master as well as excitement and explanations of interpreter.

Japanese tea ceremony par excellance - I enjoyed every minute of the event. From wearing the kimono to the final closing ceremony of the tea making. There's much to learn about the Japanese culture and heritage in tea ceremony that I've learned here. The movement of the tea master was done with utmost care and mindfulness. I would come back again and highly recommend this event if you really love Japanese culture.

Wonderful experience - This was an intimate, reverent and informative experience. There was just the 2 of us and we were dressed in our kimonos by 2 kind ladies. Mira was our tea ceremony hostess and was very knowledgeable and she had us participate in the ceremony. This was an excellent and fun experience. I highly recommend using this tea ceremony as there are several to choose from. Very easy to find as well.

1000 percent recommend! - Each element of the tea ceremony was explained as well as the historical significance. We were also allowed the opportunity to act as the Tea Master. I would 1000% recommend wearing the kimonos. It was so much fun to see all that goes into wearing this garments. The ceremony was very small with just 2 couples, so it felt very personal.

A Must Do! - Our tea ceremony with kimono was a highlight of our trip. We felt immersed in Japanese culture and we understood the importance of this beautiful ritual. The kimono selection exceeded our expectations. You will be dressed by a kimono expert and they will even put flowers in your hair. 10/10. I highly recommend this experience. Be sure this is on your Kyoto itinerary!!

Traditional, beautiful & educational. A must do! - So memorable! We appreciated the intimate setting dressed in traditional beautiful kimono attire in order to enjoy the tradition of matcha tea culture with a Tea Master! Our Tea Master was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. We learned so much about Japanese tea ceremonies of Kyoto, Kimonos, and Kyoto culture. We even got to make our own matcha tea! So special to have that experience. We will remember this moment for a lifetime!
