Fun and informative food tour in Kyoto. - Chika was our excellent guide on a food tour through Nishiki Market in Kyoto. As a foodie, the experience was exactly what I was hoping for. We tried seasonal and regional dishes. Chika was a wonderful teacher with great depth of knowledge about the history that shaped the market and the dishes we tried. We had grilled meats, seafood, sweets, sake (and the list goes on). My favorite way to learn about culture is through food, and I definitely got to try new and delicious things.
Thank you Chika, it was so fun. I would highly recommend to other foodies.

Nishiki Market with Chikako - The food tour at Nishiki Market was amazing! We got to try so many different things I’d never even heard of, and everything was so good. Our guide, Chikako, made it all very fun and easy.

A warm — and delicious— welcome. - Shino made our first day in Japan incredibly memorable! What a kind and generous spirit with interesting facts and stories. And the restaurants she took us to were remarkable. The food was amazing. My husband, the self described carnivore, tried sushi for the first time… and loved it. Great tour; kind people; delicious food. We were sad to say goodbye!

Delicious! - For those of you looking to explore Tokyo through its cuisine, take this tour. From sushi to yakisoba to matcha ice cream we ate our way through the day. Our guide Shino was amazing. She made us feel like old friends from the moment we met and went above and beyond to make it a truly special day.

A Delicious Tasting Tour of the Nishiki Market - Our Ninja Food Tour of the Nishiki Market in Kyoto with Chikako was really excellent. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The variety of food was well thought out - giving us tastes of many different dishes from rice-based treats to different eel delicacies to the Kyoto-style savory dashimaki. Seemed like a nice combination of the old purveyors and some of the new items like from a new-ish spice shop which was a very fun quick stop. She followed up with links to all of the places we visited. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour for food curious and food lovers. I'm in the food business and am not easily impressed unless it's obvious the knowledge base is really there - Chikako (and the new tour guide she was training) were A+.

Best first time experience in Japan!!! - We had an incredible experience with Chikako and Leandra on our tour of Nishiki Market! They were the perfect guides, blending a deep knowledge of the area with warm, friendly personalities. They took us to amazing places within the market, introducing us to unique and delicious local foods we might not have discovered on our own.
As first-time visitors to Japan, their tips and recommendations were invaluable, helping us navigate everything from local etiquette to must-try dishes. Their enthusiasm for the culture and cuisine was infectious, and they made us feel so welcomed.
If you’re looking for guides who can truly enhance your experience and give you insights beyond the typical tourist spots, Chikako and Leandra are the ones to book. Highly recommended!

great cultural overview of Nishiki Market - We had a great time on the Nishiki Market tour - Chikako was a gracious host and gave us an overview of the history and culture behind all the delicious food. She encouraged us to be even more adventurous than we would typically be - baby octopus and eel livers were not something we would have tried on our own! highlights were the spice store, the curried buns and wagyu sushi.
The tour was a great overview of the market; we also brought back quite a few yummy souvenirs to remind us of our time there!

Local guide makes a difference - My food tour at Nishiki Market with Taishi as our guide was a great experience. I would not be able to experience the authentic Japanese food without a local guide - there are many tourist traps there…He introduced us to dishes and ingredients I would have missed on my own, and his explanations brought the food to life.
Taishi was kind, helpful, and ready to answer all questions. He was also attentive to our preferences and wishes. Many thanks for a nice experience, Taishi!

Fantastic experience - Chikako stepped in at the last minute to lead our lunch tour, and it was amazing! She is a local to the area and was very knowledgeable about the history of the market, sharing personal stories about her experiences and her family. We tried many, many different types of food and learned so much. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Kyoto because of Chika's expertise, kindness and humor! She followed up the tour with further Kyoto recommendations and a list of the foods we had tried at the different locations. I would highly recommend this tour, this company, and Chikako!
