Fun Family Sushi Experience in Kyoto - Extended family group of 7 had a private tour of the Kyoto market to buy fish and then continued on to a sushi making location close by. Boys 14 & 12 yr old had a great time learning to make nigiri and rolls - would definitely recommend for kids. Hosts were very informative and patient as they were teaching us. Overall very fun event for all ages. Coordination communication with our hosts were great. They responded to our questions quickly despite time difference with the US.

Yukihide is absolutely amazing! - Definitely a highlight of my mum and I's trip to Japan. We had Yukihide san as our teacher/sensei who was extremely kind and patient throughout. We luckily had a private session with him so could ask him many questions and his english was great (even though he was very modest and didn't agree). The experience was extremely memorable and we highly recommend doing this with him when you're in Kyoto. He also gave a fantastic dinner recommendation of an authentic local Japanese place run by Yune san. Best karaage I've eaten in my life - よね政

Awesome experience with Parents and Boyfriend - The class was so much fun and the instructor (Hide) was a blast to be with. He was very kind and patient with not only a million dad jokes but our not-so-impressive sushi-making skills too. It is cool that I left Japan with an intangible souvenir (knowledge) on how to make good sushi/sashimi/handroll. Don't be shy to talk to Hide either! Thank you Hide and friends!

Amazing sushi class with Hide! Family-friendly and such a wonderful memory! - My family (2 boys ages 12 and 14) and I had the best time with Hide at his sushi making class in Kyoto. No joke we arrived back in the states on Tuesday and by the weekend I went to our local Japanese market and purchased the ingredients to make some sushi at home. Hide’s course was that good to inspire me to re-create the class at home! He’s a very patient instructor both for adults and kids. You will really leave the class not only with a full stomach, but also with the skills to make sushi on your own and an appreciation for what goes into the craft. A few other points I wanted to highlight: 1. Hide was a pleasure to work with and provided tips to me about my travel to Kyoto generally as this was my first time. He helped me find an incredible omakase tempura restaurant and actually joined me family for dinner the night after our sushi class! You must check out this tempura restaurant and make reservations in advance. Limited counter seats available for lunch and dinner. It’s a small place called Gion Tempura Bansan right in the heart of Gion. 2. The bar where Hide held our class was also a lot of fun. We took this class at 4:30 pm in the upstairs room of the bar and indulged in a couple of cocktails during the class. The bartender speaks great English and it seems like the bar caters to foreigners so a nice place to unwind after intense sight-seeing. Make this sushi class a DEFINITE part of your trip, whether you’re going with family, friends of colleagues. It’s a really unique and fun way to experience the amazing culture of Japan! And Hide is a true gem!
