Traditional tea ceremony - This was a wonderful insight into the ceremony performed by someone with who had been doing the ceremony for decades. She was very happy to answer as many questions as you had as well.

Worth it - The place is located in a nice quiet neighbourhood - away from the bustling crowds in kyoto. Enjoyed the tea ceremony with Aya san. Wagashi and tea were excellent. Appreciate that it included brief history on tea ceremonies and the purpose of each room and process.

An ideal experience in every detail - Aya-san is a warm and hospitable host and we thoroughly enjoyed our traditional Japanese tea ceremony with her. We learned so much about the history and tradition and will never forget the experience. The tea room that she and her husband recently renovated was so lovely and the perfect space to enjoy the ceremony. Her attention to detail from the selection of the sweet treats that accompany the service, to the tea, the art and everything in between were ideal.

Tea Master Experience - What a delightful experience at the tea master's home! We learned so much about the ceremony of tea making, and our host and husband were so kind and inviting. For one hour, we learned about the importance of tea brewing and why this tradition exists. Traditions are so important to keep alive and teach, especially to foreigners, so we also understand them. Don't miss this experience.

Wonderful experience in a Tea Ceremony Master's home! - Aya was a wonderful hostess. It was incredibly special to be able to learn about tea ceremonies and be part of one in her home. The only way to experience a real tea ceremony, is in a small, intimate setting. My husband did a class with 20 of his co-workers in Tokyo, and while he learned a lot, it was definitely more meditative. The price for a private tea ceremony was very reasonable and her instructions made it easy to find the location. Aya also has other classes such as flower arrangements - if I was staying longer, I would have taken one with her. Sadly we had to leave. For more info. on other classes, look for the Sakura Experience Japanese Culture Kyoto website. I will definitely be referring her to my friends heading to Japan.

A must do in Kyoto! - Our experience at Aya-San’s tea ceremony was the most authentic and exciting thing we did in Kyoto, and among the best things I’ve done in all of Japan. From the moment we entered, Aya made us feel welcomed and relaxed. I highly recommend this activity to anyone that is looking for an authentic Japanese experience in the ancient capital of Kyoto.

An incredible experience! - What an incredible experience!! We learned so much and completely enjoyed the hands on education. Aya had great communication via WhatsApp prior to our arrival and really great English. It was easy to understand everything she explained. Her husband took photos the entire time, which they sent to us while we were still there. This gave us the chance to be fully immersed in the experience. An absolute must do if you are going to Kyoto!

Quiet moments away from the busyness of Kyoto in tourist season - A truly beautiful and educational experience with a wonderfully kind tea master. Aya and her husband talked us through the ceremony and patiently answered our questions. When they saw that we are older people , and my husband with a bad back, stools were produced for our comfort. An unexpected bonus was that Aya’s husband took a number of photos during the ceremony which he later shared with us as lovely souvenirs of a memorable hour or so.
