Best Shamisen experience!!! - I liked Jack's shamisen and took a trial lesson. I've always experienced different kinds of shamisen, so I'm glad that they appreciated my style but gave me sound advice on how to improve. I have been practicing hard, paying attention to what you have pointed out, but I feel the sound is much better than before. It was also a great time to try out the newly released shamisen. I would like to use the lessons of the shamisen dojo as an opportunity to reconsider the basics of the Tsugaru shamisen.

It became a place I wanted to come back to when I came to Kyoto again. - I'm a Japanese person who loves Japanese culture. I usually live in the Kanto region, but I had the opportunity to visit Kyoto this time. I originally liked Japanese instruments. I made a Reservation because I happened to be able to experience the shamisen. From a slightly larger street near the listed store address, we turned to a vending machine and entered an alleyway leading to a row house. As soon as I entered the alleyway, the smell of the wooden architecture and the distinctive tatami mats of the old house, which already felt historic, came through my nose. I'm already excited here... Finally, we arrived at the shop and entered through a slightly heavy sliding door, the symbol of a Japanese house. As soon as I entered the entrance, the modern wind of the paving stone welcomed me in a lovely space. The teacher who took care of me immediately welcomed me with a smile. The shamisen teacher is a gentle-looking man named “Jack” who is dignified but has a low back and soft atmosphere. She also speaks English. I was very impressed with how Pros are. When the shamisen experience began, I also saw a nice, unique and fun person with a very smile. His skill with the shamisen, of course, is too impressive. That's what happy ears mean... As a complete Novice, he taught me how to speak in a way that was easy to understand and polite, with a mixture of knowledge and fun. There are several types of music played on the shamisen, and you can learn a lot from each experience. This time, I experienced "Miyako" among other things. The ability to choose words and communicate in a way that both Japanese and foreign people can feel Japan. Learn how to handle and enjoy the shamisen. All of them, including the personality of the teacher, were able to experience the highest moments of harmony in Kyoto. I thought this was too expensive... As a sightseeing tour of Kyoto, various things are highly complete, the cospa is too good 'I'm sorry about all this nice stuff.' The experience content, personality, and space were so wonderful that you might think so. You can also experience such a mysterious, very nice and beautiful worldview that conveys the importance of exoticism in the space where you can feel Japanese harmony in an old private house. I was very encouraged by his personality along with the experience. Also, if I ever go to Kyoto, I definitely want to visit. I want people from overseas and Japan to experience it once. Thank you for the wonderful experience. We will do our best to hear from you again, so thank you again in that case.

Simply marvelous music making! - Jack is an amazing musician with the best attitude. He was so friendly and encouraging. His lesson on the Shamisen was simple enough to follow and requires very little prior knowledge of music or guitar. Jack's enthusiasm for providing a lesson at your speed was appreciated! Although this is off the beaten track, and a little out of the way, it was by far the most authentically Japanese cultural experience we had in Kyoto and Tokyo. Thank you for the amazing lesson, Mr. Jack!

Shamisen Lessons - I highly recommend the Shamisen Dojo if you are looking to try out the shamisen. Jack’s instruction was very patient and clear and I thoroughly enjoyed learning to play Japanese traditional songs. The classes are held in a beautiful old Kyomachiya which provides a perfect atmosphere for the music. Jack also provides long-term private lessons if you find you’d like to continue learning the shamisen. Jack, ありがとうございました!
