Tea Ceremony in Kyoto - Absolutely loved this experience. We were able to both watch our host make tea and then make the tea ourselves. We also enjoyed a couple of yummy sweets. The english interpreter was great and told about the history. Also, for someone with sore hips, I had the option to sit on a small seat, which was very comfortable.

Fabulous learning experience - Despite my having lived in Japan for three years in the 1960s, I learned more about the Japanese tea ceremony in the hour than I had after previously Kearny attending a couple of them during my time living in Japan. Also, my daughter-in-law was thrilled by the experience because she is an avid green tea and matcha drinker. She too came away with additional information about the topic which has enhanced her subsequent enjoyment of green tea in all its forms.

Clearly, practice makes perfect. - The location was a bit difficult to find and not near Gion. But the experience was informative and enjoyable. They were very accommodating to my husband, who can no longer sit on the floor and made him feel welcome and included. We enjoyed tasting and making matcha, although agreed we need more practice as ours didn’t taste as good as the tea master’s. The assistant spoke very quickly and it was somewhat difficult to understand her.

Tea ceremony was held in... - Tea ceremony was held in a small house in a quiet, residential neighborhood area. It can be tricky to find so try to leave early to arrive on time. It was a nice experience to learn aspects of tea making and local customs. Would highly recommend doing at least once.

Authentic experience - Out of the chaos of the city in a real home. Ceremony done privately, very kind and patient with children. Truly an authentic and non-tourist experience, to remember and super recommended.

Friendly, informative but not relaxing - The tea ceremony was good. The host and interpreter were friendly and it felt authentic. The matcha was tasty and watching the process was relaxing. The issue was that next door was a building site, with continual loud banging and drilling. If it wasn't for this it would be 5 stars. It's not the hosts fault, however when the experience is supposed to be relaxing the building work takes that away. I think there should be a disclaimer at the start to inform people if this is ongoing. They can them make an informed decision around attending or not. It did ruin the experience.

Slow - Slow and boring, the room was on second floor with tiny narrow stairs, not safe. ,The whole thing was quiet and slow. Waste of time
