Alay Mountains - Distance: 12 km riding.
Ascent: 1218 m; Descent: 154 m.
Start your ride up a dirt road after driving to Gulcha from Osh along the Pamir Highway. The road follows the Kara Bulak stream towards the Tepshi camp, passing shepherds’ yurts set up among junipers. Near the top of the climb, you will leave the road for a trail ascending the ridge on the left. Here, you will eat lunch and enjoy the rugged mountains of the Alay across the gorge formed by the Gulcha river. At the end of the ridge, you will descend into the Tepshi camp to meet with your host for the night. Dinner.

Embark on a five-day horseback adventure like a local Kyrgyzstan nomad, traversing through the core of the Alay mountains located in Kyrgyzstan’s southern region. Over four nights, make your abode in yurts, hosted by Kyrgyz families who dedicate their summers to the care and safeguarding of their flocks and herds of sheep, cows, and horses. On the penultimate day, ascend to the top of Ak Tor Pass and bask in the panoramic splendor of the extensive Alay Valley spread out around you.
-Immense mountain vistas at Airy Bell (2956 m) and Ak Tor (4,185 m) passes, where you can experience the sensation of being transported to an alien world.
-Spend the nights in an authentic yurt, where you meet local shepherds, absorb the nuances of nomadic culture, and savor meals prepared at home.
-Engage in Community-Based Tourism. Engaging our services will enable you to contribute to the local communities.

Time of my Life - I did an Alay horse trek with Visit Alay and Timur.
It was a mind blowing experience and one of the best times of my life. Timur as my guide was fantastic and outstanding. He took us through some amazing landscapes with breathtaking views. Thanks to him, I took back some cherished memories for a life time
I will highly recommend this trek and Timur to any one who wants to do something different in their travels.
Trust me, you are missing something if you don't do this

Allay mountains trek - I went on a trip into the Allay Mountains near Osh last week and it was fantastic! Timur and his companions were amazing guides, taking us through the beautiful valleys of the area. It’s not a tough trek, only a few hours of riding each day, taking a nice long stop for lunch each day to take in the scenery! If I come back to Kyrgyzstan I would love to go on another trek with them again!

Excursion in the Alay mountains - A fantastic horse trek in the Alay mountains! Even though we were a bit early in the season Visit Alay arranged a really good and safe. We spent one night in the tent and one night in a yurt. I was a beginner at horseback riding, but the trek was no problem. The guides Timur, Erlan and Nursultan were excellent and added to the good experience!

A tour you won’t forget or regret! - Would highly recommend this trip - amazing scenery, helpful & friendly guides and an experience you won’t forget.
Think we were especially lucky as it was early season and we were a very small group of 3 (+guides) so had the mountains to ourselves.

An unforgettable experience! - This was the first horse trek of the season. We had the chance to ride horses on snow covered mountains. The views were amazing! Everything was well arranged. The guides Timur and Umar were really nice and made sure we had an unforgettable experience!

Absolutely perfect organisation, guide, horses, landscape, yurt... - What a fantastic trip! "Visit Alay" was very professional - Azi at the office booked the horse riding trip but also helped with booking accommodation in Sary Mogul and giving great hiking recommodations. Our guide Timur and and the horseman were both so lovely and empathic (as we very a bit anxious after a bad experience with a horse). We appreciated so much that Timur spoke fluent English, as in the three weeks before we did not meet anyone speaking English. He answered all our curious questions and we had fantastic conversations. As it was early in the season we spent the first night in our tent and the second night in the most beautiful yurt we visited during our two months in Kyrgyzstan! Vegetarian food was possible and really nice. The horses were really calm, the landscape just amazing. We loved it very much.

The experience, price and the tour guide was very good. I will try to go to Kyrgyzstan again with the same company - My first trip to Kyrgystan 🇰🇬 and it was so good. The experience was very stunning but the tool guide is very nice and welcoming so communicative, and price due to the experience it was very good

Incredible Experience! - This was one of the best experiences of my life. Everyone at Visit Alay was amazing and all the host families were so warm and kind. I would recommend this for respectful and easygoing people wanting a real experience— waking up with the sun, eating meals together, riding to the next yurt camp… it was incredible and the views were like nothing I’d seen before. I truly didn’t want to leave on day 5. When I initially reached out, Visit Alay was completely accommodating, reliable, communicative, and so easy to work with. No other company I contacted was willing to accommodate the cultural activities I was interested in, but Visit Alay suggested how I could do it and made it happen. This meant so much to me because it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me!! I will be forever grateful to them. If you’re worried about spending the money—don’t be. I never thought about it again and I never will. I will carry this memory forever, and hopefully I can do it again someday.

The Best of Alay - The best excursion in Kyrgyzstan. Professionally run & absolutely beautiful scenery. Simba was an excellent & knowledgeable guide as well as skilled photographer. Don’t miss this!

Don't miss it! - This is the second time I did a tour with Visit Alay and once again I had an outstanding experience. Good communication while planning the trip from abroad, with prompt answers to any questions. The staff at Visit Alay were without exception delightful and helpful. The truly nomadic horse trek was one of the best trips I've done. Each day different scenery but all stunning. I'm not a horse rider, but the comfy saddles and the calm nature of the horses made it a pleasure. The guide, Jashtyk and the horse men, Ali and Nursultan were brilliant. Somehow they produced great food at every meal even way up in the mountains! Staying in the yurts is a 'nomadic' experience... be aware there are no flush loos or showers.... it makes it all more authentic.
