Rouge River Self-Guided Canoe, Kayak, Paddleboard

Explore the gentle sandy shores of the tranquil portion of the Rouge river through our self-led canoe, kayak, paddleboard journeys. Multiple ideal spots for swimming are available (most shores belong to public territory), and you’re welcome to pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic by the river’s edge.

Duration: 4 hours

The Rouge river is CALM and most parts are very shallow. This 12 km (half day) section of river is in a rural setting, so expect to see some farms and cottages.

We offer canoes (for up to 2 adults and 1 child), single or double kayaks and paddle boards.

Additional Information
  • This activity is suitable for beginners, but please note that kayaks are easier to control and more stable than canoes and paddle boards.
  • Canoes have 2 seats. The 3rd person or children will have to sit on the (often wet) floor of the canoe.
  • Helpful hint! If you choose to canoe, it’s important to understand that canoes are designed for 2 people and have only 2 seats. It is possible to put 3 if one is a child who will sit on the floor, but we do not recommend putting 4 in a canoe. Experience tell us that children under 10 probably won’t want to paddle the whole time, so they should go in a canoe with an adult or ride in a kayak that could be towed. The best configuration puts at least 1 adult per canoe, no more than 2 adults or 2 adults + 1 child in a canoe ( 1 adult with 3 children won’t work in 1 canoe). Extra participants can take a kayak or paddleboard.
  • Minimum weight for children is 20 lbs/ 10 kg
  • Participants must be 13 yrs or older and max. weight of 250 lbs/ 113 kg to use a paddleboard.
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
  • If you bring any valuables make sure they are in a waterproof bag (can be purchased on site). The bottom of the canoe/kayak can get wet with water coming off your paddle.
  • Calm dogs on a leash are allowed.
  • Participants 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 and over.
  • Max time for return 7 p.m. (depending on sunset).
  • Small canteen on site for light snacks.

Must do activity on a trip to Tremblant! - Very helpful and friendly staff. A must do. We were a group of eight ranging in age from 8 to 52 years and rented 3 canoes. Very sturdy boats and easy to use River is shallow and easy to navigate. With well timed breaks you don’t feel the 12 km stretch. Rained a couple of times which only made it all the more beautiful. Some endurance required. We put our snacks and drinks in plastic bags in the canoe.

Peacefully and safe - I did it with my daughter (15). We don't have much kayaking experience but it was easy to do. You do need to have some endurance, it takes 2 hours at least.

If your looking for a fun, family activity - Our family rented kayaks for a fun excursion on the Rouge river. The scenery was beautiful and calm and we had a few beaches to stop at for a Picnic. The river is very calm so my wife and I did not have any trouble navigating the waters while we tried to keep up with our Boys. This is well worth the money.

Shallow, safe & fun - It would be 5 stars for fun if it were better organized for inexperienced/English speakers. We arrived and parked without difficulty, but then we got life jackets and were dropped off at the mile mark we chose. Either a short trip or the 12 km we chose. There was no real instruction or explanation of the route, km markers or how to know when we reach the end. There are very shallow places to avoid or get sand barred as we did a few times. There was virtually nothing now instruction or time spent on securing our bags. Wear hat, shirt for under life jacket, sunglasses and secure water shoes. Take water & snacks. It rained on us 3x during the 2 1/2 - 3 hrs it takes to descend. Current helps but wind often against due to snakelike shape of river.
