Located in the expansive terrain of the Vilcabamba Range, above the Apurimac River Canyon, lies the Inca city. Thick vegetation has concealed this Inca spot for decades, and its existence was only recently uncovered.
Choquequirao served as the abode of the final insurgent Incas of Vilcabamba. Similar to Machu Picchu, it is believed to have remained hidden from the Spanish. This is a demanding trek, encompassing varied ecosystems.
