Gorgeous views of a deep blue glacial lake - Wilian Elvis is a master of avoiding tourists! - Our family of 5 hiked beautiful Humantay Lake after acclimating to the elevation in Cusco for a day or two. Our guide Wilian Elvis led our group to a small hill overlooking a gorgeous deep blue glacial lake backed by snow capped mountains - best of all, we were isolated from the ever-present throng of tourists who had taken the... well-beaten path. This "tourist avoidance" was a regular theme on our tour - thanks to our expert guide Wilian Elvis, who literally ran up and down the trail despite the 14k ft elevation to ensure we all made it, coordinating with cheerful and attentive Sharon and the fresh-legged sobrino Jaime. After descending the trail, our guides helped us wash up and then our chef cooked our group an amazing multi-course picnic lunch with refreshing chicha morada. The (cooked) chicken ceviche was amazing, and even the presentation was A few tips: - The hike starts out quite cold, but warms up quickly when the sun hits the valley - Sunscreen is a must - The trail is steep, and the altitude is breath-taking (12k- 14k feet), but with a slow pace, even the cardiac-challenged in our group (like myself) made it up - The drive to the lake is quite twisty, so if you are prone to motion sickness, you may want to take precautions

Amazing views, fun hike, great food! - Hiking to Humantay Lake is something our family will never forget. The hike is fun; the lake and glacier views are outstanding and the pictures are amazing! Our guide Gary and our chef Bertrand took excellent care of us! We had breakfast at a restaurant along our way and an unbelievable, hot meal inside a tent for lunch. How Bertrand was able to prepare such a meal outdoors without a proper kitchen amazed us. Gary is a fun and entertaining guide who is also supremely kind and considerate. He looked after each person in our group that consisted of fast hiking young adults and slower hikers. He took many photos and knew good spots for getting good shots. I highly recommend this all-day hiking trip!

Challenging but worth it!! - Our day started early, but it was definitely worth the effort. We started with a picnic breakfast (amazing Peruvian spread) with a breathtaking view of the mountains. Our guide, Katie, was so kind and knowledgeable, giving us the history of the land, people, and culture throughout the day. The hike itself was no joke. This was the first time my friend and I had hiked at such a high altitude. We thought we were in good shape, but we quickly found that it didn’t matter. The altitude kicked our butts for sure, but it was all worth it once we reached the top. The crystal blue/green lake is absolutely stunning! Everything about the day was exactly was I was looking for—nature, challenge, peace, and gratitude. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

Sandy and Jackie the crazy sisters. - What an amazing experience! We were going to cancel this trip as we were concerned that we wouldn’t make it. Thanks first to Alvaro, who rang us personally and put our fears to rest. A huge thank you to Filio. Without his patience and care along the trail, we would not have made it. We will forever remember reaching Lake Humantay. It was a beautiful experience. Filio shared his knowledge of Inka culture and plant use. We cannot thank him enough. Last but not least, breakfast and lunch were superb. Thank you Euloterio and all the support staff. Well done TreXperiece.

Exclusive mountain excursion - If this trip fits into your budget, it is worth it. If you have a lower budget, there are cheaper offerings. Focus on getting the best guide, they make the difference. Our tour guide Leo made this trip worth while. He showed us the best spot to view the lake and see its colours. Additionally he told us about local customs: the respect for the mountains, religion and the importance of coca leaves. We had our own little ceremony near the lake. This was followed by an amazing lunch, freshly prepared on the mountain.

William Elvia was the best guide!! - William Elvis was an amazing guide with spectacular knowledge of Incan history, language, and the Spanish conquest! They were able to hike up and down several mountains with a smile on their face ☺️. The food that the porters and chefs carried and cooked was amazing and almost unrealistic how they were able to prepare that stuff way up there! I highly recommend Trexperience for your next adventure! -Jason V

Felix and Lake Humantay— strength, spirit and laughs !! - Felix took such great care of us on our way up to Humantay Lake! He’s also a darn good time. The ride from cusco up to “base camp” was breathtaking and when we reached the top of the trail he introduced us to his culture and mountains. It was very special. He’s been hiking these trails since he was 14. Our small party had another group of travelers and he gave each of us unique attention and guidance. Spending the day looking at this land through Felix’s eyes will be a powerful, beautiful memory for us.

Fantastic trip with amazing views. - Great trip with amazing views. Charly was a fantastic guide and offered a wealth of information on local area and history. Food was incredible. Calling it a picnic lunch doesn’t do it justice. Recommend using horses at least part of way for the experience and save wear and tear.
