Totally worth the entrance fee - Visited our 13 year old. Great views. Had a lovely lunch with a spectacular view. Hiked down to the waterfall. Saw howler monkeys. Observatory was impressive, a little scary for those afraid of heights.

Excellent day of hiking! - Wonderful place to visit! Hiked ALL the trails, on a day pass. We reserved our spot online through the observatory website, then paid at the gate once we arrived. Easy process. 99 percent of the trails were easy, as long as you are in relatively good shape. Small inclines, and declines, some stairs to climb. The waterfall was awesome! (And breathtakingly cold!) All of the paths were clearly marked, and well taken care of. The views were simply incredible! The only trail i would caution against is the River trail. You must be in incredible shape, and be warned, it is a tough tough hike down to the river, and back up! Definitely a must do on your trip to Costa Rica!
