Arenal Hike and hot springs. - Our tour guide, Miguel was very knowledgeable and a great guide on our hike. I mentioned that I really hoped to see monkeys on our trip. He delivered! He had the bus stop on the side of the road when he saw monkeys in the trees and provided binoculars. He didn’t rush us and let us “do our thing with photos and oohs and aahs.” The hot springs were relaxing and clean. Dinner was a buffet and not the best but feeding tons of people daily, understandably hard to not compromise quality for quantity.

Hiking Arenal 1968 with Carlos - do it! - My family and I did the Arenal guided 1968 hiking trail. Carlos was our guide and he was amazing. He was full of information, happy to share and chat with us and answer any questions along the way. We were a group of eight, ranging from ages 12-70. Carlos was careful to make sure everyone was ok all along the hike, and was happy to stop, rest and chat when we needed to. The views were amazing, the terrain was easier in some places but definitely got harder in steeper areas. We highly recommend this tour, and requesting Carlos as your guide (for any tour). After our hike, Carlos provided us with a sweet pineapple treat and time to rest and relax. He then dropped us off at Ecotermales (which was part of our booking through mytannedfeet blog), for dinner and hot springs. Also amazing!!! We are thrilled to have done this tour and so thankful for Carlos for making it memorable and exciting. Muchos Gracias, Carlo!

We did a private hiking the 1968 Arsenal Volcano trail with Nelson. He showed us so many cool things during the tour - We saw snakes and sloths and Nelson explained so much about the 1968 eruption and the Arenal Volcano area! He even provided some yummy after hike snacks! Nelson was so knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area and how the eruption changed the pH of the area and the effects on the plant growth and animals. Nelson was friendly and we learned so much from him. Our hike was foggy and rainy so we did not see the volcano, but Nelson made the hike interesting and worthwhile!

Good hike with a great guide - Great guide Bernado - v knowledgeable and had a good way of explaining things. V much enjoyed the hike. Then did the hot springs at the Paradise with a meal - local cuisine - tasty. Lovely bar with the volcano view. Well worth having a cocktail here.

Interesting - The tour guide was good and the trail was great! Got some really good insights that would not have been possible without a guide.

A disapponitment - Highly overpriced tour. Insufficient information given. E.g. not indicated bathing suit and swim trunks were required. Rather uninterested guide. No effort to spot wildlife. Kids that joined from another family were not taught to respect nature ( yelling, hitting trees and bushes with sticks, etc.)

Sad tour! - Worst tour ever. Didn’t see anything and it poured rain. We were caught in rain storm and as we ascended the guide informed us that they rarely see the mountain and that it always rains on the tour. They don’t tell you these things before you purchase of course. Save your money!
