Great tour - We were picked up at our hotel and greeted warmly. This tour takes place in a private nature reserve connected to the national park , but is not actually on park land. Our tour guide, David was remarkably knowledgeable about the plants, birds, animals and the volcano itself. He literally know the genus and species of every plant and creature I asked him about! We saw crested guins, cool ants. coatis, a group of spider monkeys, wild boar. David often knew animals were in the area because he smelled them before he saw them. Our experience really seemed to matter to him and the diver, Clever, who prepared a beautiful snack of fresh fruit at the end. The hike initially was not easy, lots of rocks and roots so a decent level of fitness is helpful. Really, a great experience.

Beautiful view - We had signed up for a combo tour and even though tired enjoyed the walk. It is not for someone who can’t climb 3/4 mile up. Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us the history of the volcano including the eruptions. The 2nd part of the hike was downhill with heavy foliage. Pineapple served at the end.

Fabulous hike with a great guide, Pedro! - We loved this hike and our guide, Pedro, was fabulous! We arrived early in the morning and there were very few people. Pedro had so much knowledge about Costa Rica, the volcano, plants, animals, it was extremely interesting and fun. We had a great view of the volcano midway and enjoyed the experience very much. Highly recommend!

Arenal and so much more! - I couldn’t believe that I was actually walking around an active volcano, so special. Our guide had such broad knowledge of the geological history of Arenal and Costa Rica. He understood and made allowances for the variety of ages in our group and our abilities. I highly recommend this tour.

Good but a little rushed - Ezekiel was extremely nice and knowledgeable and interested in making sure the group saw wildlife in which they were interested. He was able to talk about the lava flows and the history of the volcano. While Joshua, too, was knowledgeable about the volcano, he rushed the group and did not seek out wildlife on the “forest” part of the tour.

Informative tour guide, short hike & view of the volcano - This was one of the few 'tours' i booked in Costa Rica which was truly a 'tour', meaning their was a driver AND a tour guide offering history, naturalist commentary and information interesting for visitors to a country. It was a short few hours, but it was very nice and interesting for the money. You only get a distant view of the volcanoe, but the 'tour guide' portion was nice. This is a perfect tour for folks who don't have the energy or inclination for anything but a shortish hike to see the volcano. '

Uninteresting excursion - Totally uninteresting hike. We climbed a steep path in the lava stones to arrive at a small rocky esplanade, with a distant view of the volcano. The same view that we could have from our hotel (Arenal Observatory Lodge, very good). The guide gave us explanations that appear in all tourist guides. After joining the bus, some of the customers were invited to return to the park entrance through the forest at nightfall. The elderly people were invited to leave by bus and wait for us there! Bad organization, zero attention to customers, and shameful value for money ($70/person!!!). To flee.

Volcano 3000 steps , Baldi hot springs and terrible dinner - Someone on the company tampered with our review below. Don’t believe what you read in these reviews. A rip off tour $160 each for a 3000 step guided walk. 2 hours at the Baldi Springs, which are ok and inedible food. Someone in the company tampered with my review as we were asked to complete after the walk which I rated as average as had expected a hike. major part was the Springs so I left responses blank. When we complained to the company they used my fraudulent fraud as evidence we were satisfied.
