Thrilling, gorgeous, unique - Victor was a hilarious and engaging tour guide. We did the jungle/river route and it was secluded and the most incredible horseback riding trip I could have imagined. The horses trot and gallop which scared me at first because every time I’ve ridden before the horses just walked. But I became more confident as the tour progressed, as I realized that he had full command of all 5 horses with verbal cues and I was not. If you are a thrill seeker, this is the horse back tour for you.

Gitty up! - It was my first full day in Costa Rica and I can't imagine a better way to experience the beautiful country and the rainforest. It was pouring down rain but that didn't stop us from going full speed through the mud and into the river. The guides were friendly and funny. For first time horse riders it may be a little intimidating at first but they help you get the hang of it, and before you know it you are living Pura Vida! I'd recommend wearing pants, the stirrups did a number on my ankles and shins, but that was my fault. Highly recommend!

Lovely day out - Jorge worked hard to give us a great experience despite my inability to go very fast on the horse (I could NOT get to trot without feeling like I was being paddled by a beefy nun!). The trail up to Arenal was lovely and we got to sit and soak in the amazing views.

Excellent tour for our family!! - We were so happy we booked this excursion! It was a highlight of our trip! My husband and I brought our 10-year-old twins and my 76-year-old mom - everyone had fun! The guides were very patient with my daughters who needed a little encouragement. We went through the jungle and saw a bunch of birds, sloth and monkeys. We loved going through the river and checking out the waterfall. Definitely recommend this tour! A+

Awesome! - Its amazeing! Great ride able to ride...not follow in a train of slowpoke horses. Our guide he was so good to stay back with other riders but let other ones gallop or open up ahead. Wear jeans!!! No flipflops!! We didnt of course we are experienced riders but some people didnt understand that flip flops and shorts are not gonna be fun for you after ride. You will be sore!

Highly recommend! - A great experience that everyone should try. Our guide was knowledgeable and we were able to see an eating sloth which we would have missed if not for our guides. The horses are well trained and while it may feel scary( if you have not risen a hire in a long time or ever) it becomes second nature easily as the horses follow commands and the guides are impeccable. Highly recommend!!!!

Amazing tour more than trail ride - George was an amazing. Very knowledgeable and pointed out all the wildlife. They take good care of the horses and give them breaks. I went swimming in the river and met Maliku tribe member. Would strongly recommend and would do again!

Fun but concerned for the horses - I'll start with saying that we had a blast on this excursion. I would recommend it to more experienced riders and not first timers. It was cloudy and the volcano wasn't visible so the guides took us on a forest/ river journey. The ride was more technical/ difficult than any such horseback riding I've done. We went up and down steep, rocky and muddy paths and went into the river where the water was up to my ankles. There were times when the horses broke into a full run without our prompting. There were other times when the horses insisted on crowding each other. Honestly I'm amazed no one fell off in our group. But my main complaint is my concern for the welfare of the horses. My husband is a big guy and he was put on a horse that seemed way too small for him and was limping and straining under his weight. My horse kept tossing it's front foot when standing and when I got off I saw that the ankle actually looked bent. I alerted the guide and he was very dismissive. When we were first getting set up for the ride the guide smacked a horse on it's rear and my horse flinched at the sound. They treat the horses like work animals and I get the feeling they are only cared for to the extent that they can generate revenue. I left the tour with mixed feelings and a lingering concern.
