Start your adventure with a 20-minute trek in a 4 X 4 to the tropical rainforest on the outskirts of La Fortuna in the shadow of the majestic Arenal Volcano. After gearing up and a short safety and rappelling briefing, you embark on a short hike on a trail through the rainforest. The Pure Trek Canyoning & Waterfall Rappelling tour includes 4 waterfall rappels, one wall rappel, a short rock climb, an uphill rainforest hike, and the Monkey Drop- you will get wet! After a short trek out of the canyon on a magical trail, jump back in the 4x4 vehicle waiting to take you to the next point where you will meet the next transportation to head onwards to the 2nd adventure of the day -

Embark on an exciting journey with this rappelling and white water rafting trip! Descend through the canyons before navigating through exhilarating Class II-III rapids, under the vigilant supervision of your guides and instructors. The package includes pick-up and drop-off services, lunch, and beverages. Professional photo services can be availed for an extra cost, if desired.

- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- May be operated by a multi-lingual guide
- Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
- Weather dependent. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is flooding or other government river closure. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
- The duration of transfers are approximate, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions

Awesome rafting experience! - Kervin was beyond excellent, super friendly and happy, made lots of jokes and made everyone feel comfortable. Our raft guide, Christopher was excellent too.
Go in clothes that you don't mind getting soaked. You leave your belongings and change of clothes on the bus and can change after the rafting is over. They provide towels. The included lunch is excellent, a buffet with veg and non veg options.
If you're doing the canyoning/rafting combo - they give you a great snack bag in between both activites with peanuts, a banana, water and an energy bar.

Rafting with Cristopher Robin - My husband and I went white water rafting and signed up last minute. Our rafting guide was "Cristopher Robin." He was very friendly and helpful. We were nervous going into the experience but he made it so much fun. Would definitely recommend doing this! Pura Vida

Great adventure for families - We had so much fun white water rafting with our families. My boys are (12,10,8). They loved it! The class 2 and 3 rapids were perfect for our kids without scaring them. Our tour guide Mariano did a wonderful job driving the boat. He couldn't of been nicer. Guestavo, on the bus, did a great job of explaining everything and giving us some cultural background. I would highly recommended this tour to any families.

Wave Expeditions does more than tours! Plan your entire vacation through them! - WOW! We did both the canyoning/waterfall rappelling and white water rating on the Balsa all in one day! This tour is a well oiled machine. It was exciting and adventurous while also feeling very safe! The entire family did both and really enjoyed it.
Canyoning will take your breath away but you leave feeling very proud of your accomplishments! Don’t forget to do ALL - including the Monkey Drop!
Whitewater rafting was fun and exciting with a stop for some fruit along the way. Great photos ( especially if you’re in front of the raft)!
Wave Expeditions planned out entirely vacation- not just these tours! We used them for other private tours, private driving, hotels, meals, etc. They have been around for over 15 years - I know since we also used Wave for our honeymoon 15 years ago!
Very well run company. They remembered EVERYTHING! I cluing my son’s 13th birthday and presented him with a cake!

Excellent canyoning and white water rafting trip - We had a fantastic day out, canyoning in the morning and white water rafting in the afternoon. Our guide for the afternoon was Momo who was fantastic, he was very knowledgable, pointed out the wildlife while giving us a great tour through the rapids. The included lunch was very decent. The only slight downside was a long wait between canyoning and white water rafting.

Best experience! Exhilarating! - Absolutely incredible adventure day for us on our last day in the La Fortuna area. Saved the best for last! Started with canyoning and then moved onto the rafting Everyone was very professional and man what an operation to get us all safely to the bottom of each waterfall and safe and sound in our rafts. I can't say enough about both of these adventures. Thrill of a lifetime!
Oh, and don't want to forget the finale - an amazing organic lunch (best meal I've had in CR), sugar cane demo and really just everything was top notch. Highly recommend if in CR.

Fantastic from start to finish - We had booked a full day combo tour with canyoning in the morning with Pure Trek and rafting in the afternoon with Wave Expedition. The entire day was seamlessly organized from start to finish. WAVE was exceptional. Javier, our driver, got us everywhere safely and kept everyone's belongings safe. Our rafting guide, Diego, was outstanding - super knowledgeable and fun! We all had an awesome time, including our hard-to-impress 3 teen boys.

A Too Long Day Rappelling and Rafting - We did a combination tour of the Waterfall Rappelling and Whitewater Rafting on the same day. I did not realize these two activities would be run by two different tour operators. Pure Trek ran the rappelling part, and Wave Rafting ran the whitewater rafting part. These excursions were the highlight of our vacation, but in hindsight, I would do them on separate days because we were exhausted at the end of the day. As for Wave Expeditions, they had way overbooked the date and had to charter a bus to bring all 50 people up to a different river that had the capacity to accomodate so many people. The bus ride was over an hour, but the rafting made up for it. The rapids were pretty brisk and we saw a lot of whitewater. About half way, they had us pull all the boats over and they cut up fresh watermelon and pineapple for a snack. At the end, we changed into our dry clothes, they gave us beer and juice for the kids, and then took us to a restaurant where we had dinner. When we finally got back to La Fortuna, they dropped us off back at our hotel. Overall it was a great experience, just a very long day!
