Lake Arenal is a lake which is situated in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is currently the largest lake in Costa Rica at 85-square-kilometre. Its depth varies between 30 and 60 meters seasonally. The town of Arenal was relocated to higher ground when the lake was expanded in 1979. - Arenal Volcano - It is a walk through easily accessible trails. There are sighting towers that will allow for beautiful 360 \(\degree\) photographs of the lake and the volcano. The site is excellent for bird watching, where you can view toucans, motmots, trogons, and oropendolas. You can also hear or maybe even see howler monkeys, spider monkeys, or capuchin monkeys, as well as many other species. It is a roughly 2-mile trail with no steps and little incline, completely apt for wheelchairs and those with physical limitations. At the end of the walk our transportation will be waiting to return to your hotel.

Excellent sunset boat tour of Lake Arenal - We did a private sunset boat tour of Lake Arenal, and it could not have been better.
Our guide was Carlos, and our boat Captain was Carly, and both were wonderful. Carlos was extremely knowledgable, passionate, and proud of his country and heritage. We learned a lot in a couple hours with him. Carly kept putting us in the best positions to get the best sunset and Arenal volcano views.
They served us a delicious charcuterie board and some fresh pineapple, plus some wine and other drinks. We got lucky with excellent weather, and Carlos is also an excellent photographer.
Cannot more highly recommend the Lake Arenal Sunset Boat Tour from Jacamar Naturalist Tours. It was the highlight of our entire trip!

If in La Fortuna, you absolutely should go! - This is a wonderful tour with two unique experiences. You first walk through the rainforest with a very knowledgeable guide who was able to spot may things for us and use his scope to take many wonderful videos and photos on our camera through his scope. You are then picked up at the end of trail by a pontoon boat which takes you around Lake Arenal with fantastic views of the volcano and continued great spotting by the guide. We also really enjoyed learning from our guide Jaira (not sure I'm spelling this correctly) about many aspects of Costa Rica, including its history and transition to being totally protective of its wonderful environment. At the end, he showed us a wonderful chocolate shop (had coffee and pastry there today) as well as 2 restaurants he highly recommended. We ate at one tonight and it was fantastic. Thank you Jairo!

Great view of the lake - Lovely and short walk through the forest. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and plant life. We were lucky enough to see a Dutchman's Pipe!! The guide was so excited because he had never seen one before. Boat was a great way to see the Lake.

Great Views, Relaxing Tour - This tour was amazing! The walk through the forest was easy and reasonably short and the boat ride was spectacular! We got great views of the volcano and surrounding mountains. We also saw some cool wildlife. It was a great tour for us because we had small children and didn't want anything too intense or physically demanding.

Wonderful afternoon discovering the National Park - We had a wonderful tour with Jacamar. We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the National Park (the road had a section which was really rocky and the driver was amazing), where we walked the peninsula trail. We were lucky to have two guides as David was new to the company and in training. He was great and think he'll be amazing for Jacamar in his new job. On the walk we saw Coati, a hawk and the highlight was seeing multiple spider monkeys really close in the trees above us. The views were also beautiful across Lake Arenal and out to the volcano. We were given some fresh pineapple and drinks, then boarded a boat for a tour on the lake. Unfortunately it rained so hard we couldn't stay out long - but you can't control the weather in the tropics. We had a wonderful afternoon - thank you.

Highly Recommend this Tour - If you want a cool and comfortable way to see the volcano and a lot of birds and other wildlife, I highly recommend this tour. Our naturalist was knowledgeable, everything ran on time, the van was clean, and the boat driver had an eagle eye for spotting wildlife. There’s A short, easy hike through a park to get to the boat. Then we puttered around the east side of the lake, and met the van at the boat launch.

Good and relaxing - Good trail for all levels, relaxing boat ride. Guide only talked during the hike or near the volcano, missed a lot of drive time to tell more about Costa Rica

Lovely half day trip - Oscar was a very good guide and pointed out wonderful wildlife including spider monkeys and lots of beautiful birds. He also helped us photograph the birds through his telescope.
