Good choice of transportation - The ride was easy and enjoyable, although the road was bumpy for some km. Driver was punctual, the van comfortable. Crossing the lake was fun, a nice alternative to driving.

Excellent service from RideCR shared shuttles - We took four shared shuttle rides with RideCr. They were very reliable, showed up on time, got us to our destinations on time had a concierge who responded to concerns, and were more reasonably priced than other shuttles. For most of our trips the bus was not crowded, we had lots of room, and the drivers were very nice and helpful with carrying the luggage. We had a bad experience with another shuttle company cancelling on us two days before our trip. We only had a slight blip on our last trip, when we were the last to be picked up and the bus was very crowded. But even that trip was very reliable, and got us to the airport on time,

Comfortable cars, punctual service, very noce drivers. - We have used them for all our transfers in Costa Rica and it was great! The car was always on time, the drivers were very nice and polite, showed us all attractions on the way, made stops in interesting places. We loved especially the ride from Monteverde to Arenal that included a boat ride. Ot was spectacular.

Great way to see the lake - The journey from La Fortuna to Monteverde is not an easy one as the roads are very windy with lots of potholes. The options are driving all the way (about 3 to 4 hours) or this lake crossing (30 mins in the car, 45 mins on the boat and then 2 hours in the shuttle the other side). We loved the boat, really great way to see the lake. The shuttle was fine but would probably do a private one next time as the shuttle was full and there was quite a few drop offs which extended the journey.

Good experience but takes a long time - This was going from Arenal to Monteverde - we purposely choose to take the lake route vs. road only to add little flavor to the journey. This was a shared transfer option. We were picked up right on time from the hotel and the shuttle made one other stop (to pick a large group with a guide) before heading to the lake drop area. The boat we were transferred into was a bit run down and smaller than most other boats we saw there. At the other end of the lake, it was raining and ground was muddy going from boat to the shuttle, and seemed like a small make shift area. Then the shuttle rid from there to Monteverde was bit of an adventure - rough road with lots of potholes and cracks all around and being mountain area, it was curvy all along. The overall journey took lot more time than it's advertised. We never got into any traffic anywhere but still the whole journey took 4.5 hours. It took almost 45min to an hour from hotel in Arenal to boat ramp. Boat ride took another hour. Then almost 1/2 hr just to transfer from boat to shuttle. And finally another 2 hours from boat ramp to hotel in Monteverde.

Not a Jeep—A Crowded Bus - For the price, I understand now what we paid for. Had I known ahead of time, I might have shopped around more. In our communication via WhatsApp, we were told we would take a jeep to the lake, boat across, and a jeep to Monteverde. What actually happened was we got on a crowded hot bus from La Fortuna to the lake. At least the driver was friendly. The boat was not bad at all. Pretty views and a fairly quiet ride. The second driver was not as friendly as the first. Again, it was not a jeep, but a smaller less comfortable shuttle where I was in a cramped jump seat and my wife was seated in a single seat behind me. We loaded our own luggage, which is fine. It’s just the opposite of what we were told when we booked. The driver from the lake to Monteverde was very friendly with the European passengers, helping them with their luggage and giving them referrals and ideas for activities while in town. He even offered to take them around himself. We didn’t get much of a chance to talk to him, which is fine also. I understand it is easier to converse with someone in your own language and my Spanish is not good enough for conversation. What bugged me the most was he made some comment about where we were staying being less fancy, then passed our place on the way through town to drop everyone else off first, then when he took us to our place, didn’t offer any help with luggage or say anything like ‘goodbye’ ‘thank you’ just got in the vehicle and left. Maybe I expected more because the person from Ride CR who booked our travel told us it would be a private driver and they would help us with bags, etc. Just be aware that this is not “Jeep Boat Jeep” It is crowded bus, boat, crowded bus. The good thing is we got from La Fortuna to Monteverde in about 3 hours vs 5 or 6 for very little money, and we didn’t have to drive. The bad thing was the second driver was not a fan of Americans I guess, even though we didn’t do anything to him.
