Worth the climb - Was a beautiful waterfall. Had been raining a lot so water levels to high to actually swim at the bottom. Was a pretty walk down and walking back up gave ones thighs a real workout!

Great time! Steep... - Great time! Steep staircase. Would be difficult with young children. We were unable to swim due to weather but had a fun time.

La Fortuna Waterfall - high water no swim - Busy spot. Do NOT take elderly or out of shape people down those stairs! It is a good climb back up. Okay for average fitness level but not okay for some folks. You'll likely have to carry little ones. A few places to stop and rest on the way though. We did see an ambulance at the top- likely a regular occurrence. Recent rains made it off limits to swim as water was too crazy. That was a disappointment for us so check before you go.

We weren’t able to swim... - We weren’t able to swim due to the water conditions, but it was still worth the climb to see the beautiful waterfalls!

Beautiful falls - very impressive during the rainy season - The falls were very impressive, as this visit was during the rainy season. We were not able to paddle at the base of the falls due to the high water level. Be sure to take waterproofs or ponchos

Lovely walk, river swim and fab waterfall - We really enjoyed the walk down to the waterfall, it is all steps in the forest. We found the walk up fine but it could be an issue for some. The waterfall exceeded our expectations and we got to swim in the river at the bottom. There was no need to prebook tickets, you can just buy tickets there and walk straight in.

Titular waterfall, a short 15 min drive from La Fortuna, with the most well-maintaineconcrete steps right to the falls. - This titular waterfall was the last hike we did before leaving Costa Rica, and it was a very easy descent, the concrete stairs sturdy and well-kept all the way to the falls. Staff will tell you if it is safe to swim that day. However, there are spots to step over some rocks, get a great photo, touch the water for a few seconds. Going back up is almost 500 steps, but with plenty of resting platforms. Parking is free, but crowded. Bathrooms only at the top.

There was no line to skip - The waterfall is beautiful. There was no line for us to skip so it would have made more sense to pay there.

Ask about swimming BEFORE you pay! - ASK IF SWIMMING IS AN OPTION BEFORE YOU PAY!!! Ourselves, along with multiple other disgruntled customers, were informed AFTER we paid ($20usd per person) that swimming in the waterfalls would not be permitted that day due to the water level. They refused to refund our money and would not transfer to another day.
