La Fortuna de San Carlos - The sloth is one of the most emblematic animals of Costa Rican fauna. These small and friendly creatures are sweet and beautiful, and always appear happy, with an eternal smile painted on their faces.
We would love for you to join us for a short hike through the secondary rainforest to try to locate them. This trail is only 2 km. (1.25 miles) and is designed with the entire family in mind. It is very common to spot these small mammals hiding among the vegetation. But our expert guides know all their secrets and tricks! We will also learn interesting facts about some of the fabulous plants we spot along the way.
Due to its location and type of flora, this trail is also heavily populated with birds. To complement a morning or afternoon full of wildlife, we will be able to appreciate many species of birds in the area. Recommended only for sloth and bird lovers!

Sloths and birds!OH my! - It was amazing! We saw sloths birds frogs and bats! It was a private tour and well worth it! Guide was friendly and knowledgeable!

Fantastic Sloth Sightings - This is a great way to see sloths, learn about their environment and be educated in other animals found in the rainforest while walking on a level trail. Melanie was a great guide, informative and patient.

Amazing sloth and bird tour! - This was an incredible tour.Jason was very knowledgeable about the area and spotted many sloths for us. He was extremely patient and kept finding better spots with his telescope for us to get clearer views of the sloths, and he took camera-quality photos with a phone through the telescope for us (see our attached photos). Would highly recommend. The driver Edson was also very friendly and safe.

FANTASTIC TOUR!! LOTS OF SLOTHS AND BEAUTIFUL BIRDS !! - After a late night flight to San Jose and early morning drive to La Fortuna, the Sloths and Birds Sightseeing Tour was the perfect way to start our Costa Rica vacation! The tour was fantastic yet relaxing, and we saw 5 sloths and lots of birds, including Toucans (and bats!) Our guide, Caesar, was friendly, knowledgeable and expert at spotting and identifying birds. He took no more than 2-3 seconds to set up his telescopic lens and helped to line-up our phones to the lens so that we could take expert pics ourselves. The tour ended at a farm with delicious fresh fruits and home-made, traditional snacks. We highly recommend!!

Sloths!!! - Saw 5 sloths and toucan. Guide was great at finding them. Pretty hike. Clean park. Bathrooms at entrance. Lots of beautiful plants as well

Amazing sloth tour! - Amazing sloth tour! Jason was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He knew where and how to spot all of the sloths and animals, allowing us to see four sloths total! Definitely recommend.

Loved watching the sloths - We did this in the morning and loved it, we saw so many birds and 2 and 3 toed sloths. Our guide was amazing, so knowledgeable.The owner of the property actually went out with us and helped us spot things, we got to make and drink sugar water at the end and then had some snacks after. It was a great tour!

Excellent Sloths and Bird Tour! - Our guide was excellent! She was knowledgeable, pleasant and tried hard to make sure that everyone had a great experience!
We were fortunate to see 2 three toed sloths and one juvenile two toed sloth. In addition, we saw fruit eating bats, several types of lizards, and beautiful poison frogs.
We saw cane being harvested for juice and got to taste it!
The tour ended at a small organic farm where empanadas and fresh fruit was served and birds could be viewed.
Overall, a tour that was very enjoyable!

Great place to see sloths and learn about CR plants and animals. Ask for Helen as a guide - I would highly this tour especially if you ask for Helen as a tour guide. Having traveled 4 continents and having a lot of wild life naturalists, she is among the very best. It is a great setting with lots of sloths if you know where to look. We learned a lot about the plants, and saw a tremendous number of birds and reptiles.

Sightseeing in the rain - Our guide was the best. We did not get to see many animals up close however. It was pouring rain the day of our walk, so this likely had an impact. If you’re looking to see animals up close, this is likely not the experience for you. But again, the weather could have been a factor for us. We did many other tours with Jacamar which were all top notch.
