A great time. - We had a wonderful experience taking our daughter on this tour. The property was beautiful. Sergio was an excellent guide and even made our shy pre-teen feel confident enough to ask and answer questions. We saw toucans, 5 sloths, and an agouti. The tortilla making and sugarcane juicing was fun and delicious. I'd definitely recommend this tour for families, couples, or solo travelers.

This was a very fun and... - This was a very fun and informative tour! Well worth the time and money. Our guide David knew *everything* about sloths and made sure we all had plenty of chances to look through the scope to see them. There’s a lot to learn about the local flora as well. A great way to kick off a Costa Rican vacation!

A great Costa Rica experience! - This tour was a last minute decision because we arrived in La Fortuna much later than expected. We were staying at Hotel Campos Arenal just across the road and decided to check out Hikes and Trails the next morning. We walked in expecting the tours to be full. Guide David agreed to take us and another small party on the "Sloth Walk". I can’t thank them enough! David is a biologist and very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and ecosystems. He was very helpful making videos and images using his high power spotting scope. The property is on the Rio Danta adjacent Arenal Conservation Area. Wildlife are free to roam unhindered to and from the area. The little handmade snack we made at the end of the tour was nice too! 3+ hours, clean, great guide, reasonable price. Highly Recommended!

Book this tour!!!! - Tour was amazing! David was really nice and knowledgeable; his passion for sanctuary showed on the best way :). We got to see five sloths, two of which were active. Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the sugar cane & tortilla, but it smelled really good. Place was amazing!

Best Sloth Tour! - There are so many sloth tours to choose from in La Fortuna and we are so glad we picked this one. David was our tour guide and he was very friendly, informative, and funny. We saw 4 sloths, 2 owls, bats, several iguanas, and we got lucky enough to see poison dart frogs!! David answered all questions and educated us along the tour. The tortilla cooking was a bonus! I highly recommend this affordable tour to anyone visiting La Fortuna!

Tour sloths in their natural environment - We had a great time on this tour. Even though it was pouring down rain, we were able to spot 4 sloths - including one baby! They have both two- and three-toed sloths on the property. The guide was super knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He was able to provide many facts about the sloths and answered all our questions. What really impressed me was that this was a family-run place that was into sustainability. They care about the animals and plants on their property and do this as a way to inform the tourist. They are not trying to exploit the animals, unlike a number of places in the area. Afterwards, you get to squeeze sugar cane to make juice and make your own tortillas. Plus, the "grandma" provides you with a nice meal. Here little grandson was a wonderful helper too :) We highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful sloth experience - We did a sloth tour with Kenneth from La Fortuna Hikes and Trails and it was wonderful. The planning leading up to the tour was very good and the company went the extra mile to help us coordinate a driver for the day (who was also wonderful - thanks, Manuel!) Kenneth took us for a hike around a private reserve and was so knowledgeable about the animals and plants. He had an incredible eye and was able to spot tiny frogs, bats hiding under leaves, toucans, herons...and of course, the star...sloths! We were able to see seven sloths, including a mom and baby. It was such a thrill to see these incredible animals in their natural habitat. (Be aware of the sloth park in La Fortuna that is more like a zoo). Kenneth was amazing at spotting the sloths and setting up a telescope for us. Apart from being so knowledgable, he was fun and amusing and is obviously passionate about what he does. There are some shady operations in La Fortuna that are capitalizing on the wildlife - La Fortuna Hikes and Trails is not one of them. This company is truly committed to responsible tourism and respecting the environment and wildlife. After our hike, we were treated to a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch. It wasn't a cooking class but we didn't mind - the food was delicious!
