Just Do It - We had an amazing experience with our guides, Tomas and Erin! When the weather didn’t cooperate, they quickly adjusted our reservation so we could enjoy the full-day excursion without missing a thing.
Our adventure began with a boat ride to snorkel with sea lions. We also spotted beautiful fish and jellyfish! The sea lions were especially adorable this time of year. For context, I’m five months pregnant and wanted an activity for our baby-moon. We both felt completely safe swimming in the ocean thanks to the wetsuit, snorkel gear, and life vest provided—everything was thoughtfully planned for a comfortable experience.
Next, we headed to Isla EspÃritu Santo, where we soaked up the sun, relaxed, and enjoyed homemade ceviche tostadas by the crystal-clear water. It was such a peaceful and delightful stop.
Afterward, we returned to the boat and got back into our (mostly dry) wetsuits for the highlight of the trip—swimming with a whale shark. Seeing these incredible creatures up close was absolutely worth it!
We were impressed with all the extras the company provided, including fisherman’s jackets for the windy boat ride. This was such a well-organized and memorable experience. We’d definitely recommend it!

Don’t miss, so incredible - Our guide Tomas was exceptional! He was so chilled out and knew EVERYTHING about the wildlife. He has a degree in marine biology, so you can ask him anything. Even our very obscure questions were answered with more info than we knew existed, while also keeping it incredibly engaging. His ceviche recipe is so so good too! Don’t miss the sea lions, it’s such a once in a lifetime chance to meet wildlife that actually wants to meet you back.

Prepare to be amazed and humbled - Cannot recommend this tour enough. Swimming with whale sharks was the reason we chose Mexico for our family trip. Erin, Tomás, and capitán clearly have a passion for what they do and they love sharing with others.
They anticipated. The groups needs (Dramamine and jackets for the boat ride).
Erin quickly memorized everyone’s name, talked my wife down from a wet suit induced anxiety attack, and addressed the fears of one of the younger group participants. Between the knowledge sharing, the care, and the delicious lunch this tour felt like hanging with friends.
I’d recommend brining a hoodie or jacket for the boat ride.

Chance of a lifetime - This is a great tour. The guides were so kind and knowledgeable. They got us right up to the animals, in their habitats, while still teaching us about their biology and how to respect them. They provided wet suits, which I didn't think we would need given it was nearly 90F outside, but it did get cold in the water. Definitely a tour worth taking!

Full day, snorkel and swim with sea lions and whale - This tour was amazing. We had plenty of time to snorkel with the sea lions and our guide took us through the sea lion colony with a lot of explanation and a long snorkel. The sea lions were so friendly and swam under me and over me and even one floated on his back and put his eye right up to my snorkel and we swam together. Snorkeling with the whale shock was great too. The whale shock was swimming pretty fast and our guides did a great job trying to snorkel and find them and then bring everybody to the area and tell us which way to swim. We learned a lot about a whale shock and I love the way they are protected now and our guide made sure we follow the rules. They gave us warm jackets to wear on top of our wetsuits and even hot tea to keep us warm because it got pretty cold on the boat as we were speeding through the water. It’s a long boat ride to the sea lions, but it’s a beautiful journey. I can also say that I snorkeled with the sea lions the day before with another tour and it was a whole different experience. They didn’t do anything the way this tour did it and it really made me appreciate how one tour can be so much better than another. thanks for an amazing experience!!!

Absolutely the best option for snorkeling with La Paz's whale sharks & sea lions! - Absolutely the best option for snorkeling with La Paz's whale sharks and with the Espiritu Santo Island sea lion colony. Attentive, knowledgeable, and very capable guides, small groups (boat seats 10 snorkelers, you go in with the whale sharks 5 at a time), all rental gear in great shape. At the time I booked, this was the only company I found for my dates that did both the whale sharks and the Espiritu Santo sea lions (not the smaller colony at San Rafaelito) in one day. Also, the homemade lunch (ceviche tostadas) was some of the best food we've had. Thanks so much to Erin and Tomas! Had a once-in-a-lifetime experience and will be singing your praises.

Perfect Day - Extremely pleased with Eco Migrations full day whale shark tour. The guides are knowledgeable and skilled. This was my first time doing snorkelling like this and I felt safe the entire time. The company is mindful of the environment and animals in it.

It was a great experience... - It was a great experience snorkeling with the seals and whale sharks. The guide was very knowledgeable and nice. I would just give a caution to seniors (I'm 63) about the 80 minute panga boat ride to see the seals. The up and down pounding from the waves can be hard on your body.

Whale Shark swim frustration… - Communication lacked with this tour company. They were advised the previous evening that the whale shark swimming would not be moving forward from authorities for the next couple days and failed to email all parties this updated information. They waited until everybody was suited up in wetsuits and ready to go to the boat to advise that there would be no swimming with the whale sharks on this day..
They only offered a 25% discount to any party that wish to continue on to swim with the sea lions or a full refund if you wished to cancel. We were quite surprised that they did not offer 50% refund seeing that the whale shark swimming was the highlight of that excursion.
Because of their lack of communication and we had left our location at 4 AM to be there by 7 AM we felt we had no other choice but to continue on with the sea lion swim. It was already too late to book anything else for that day.
We were not fully prepared for how frigid the water and the boat ride were going to be. You need to be a decent swimmer to survive the choppy water while swimming with the sea lions. They did, however, pass out yellow fisherman jackets for partial coverage from the wind for the 80 min ski ride both directions.
The frigid jellyfish infested waters made, enjoying the sea lions, a slight challenge.
