Fantastic whale shark trip - Eco-Migration staff are very knowledgeable and professional. I found the activity very exciting but strenuous for me as I am not a good Swimmer. Our guide was very helpful in assisting me and I got a great closeup view of the whale shark! The only disappointment was we had to join a different tour company & boat so there were 19 people total. This was due to the new lottery system, only allowing a limited # of boats each day into the whale shark preserve. EcoMigration didn't get selected the date of our tour, but thankfully they were able to get us onto this other boat rather than have to cancel our trip.

Wonderful whale sharks - Thoroughly amazing and wonderful experience! These are magnificent creatures to behold! We saw 6-8 meter long whale sharks, sometimes 3 at once!

Best part of our trip to Le Paz! - Really unique trip. Got within a few feet of the whale sharks and ultimately got to see 3 of them on the trip. Was even able to take some awesome video underwater with my normal phone. The guide was great and appreciated the drinks!

Great experience with whale sharks! - Erin and JJ are a great team to allow for special and memorable experiences with whale sharks. Erin is well organized, friendly and has lots of knowledge to share. JJ is fun and leads well in the ocean to ensure safety and viewing opportunities. Our family had a great time and our whale shark memories will be with us for a long time. We would recommend this tour to others looking for a skilled team.

Awe-inspiring swim with magnificent creatures. - Erin and Tomas were excellent leaders and made sure we were able to get the most out of the experience. They were also knowledgeable about local marine biology. It was so cool being able to swim near these magnificent sharks while respecting their space. I'd highly recommend this company.

Incredible experience swimming with whale sharks!!! - Incredible experience!!! The whale sharks are amazing to swim with. You need to be in good shape to swim and keep up with the guide and the sharks !! Two of the three swims, I could not keep up. But the third swim, I swam right next to about a 18’ whale shark for about 4 minutes!!
If you are on a cruise, the cruise ship should shuttle you to the downtown LaPaz to meet with the tour company.
Not knowing about the free shuttle, we had the tour company arrange for a round trip uber, which got totally botched. We ended up taking a taxi for $40 USD, not knowing we could have taken a free shuttle. I wish Juan Jose could have provided us with better transportation information. That was the only negative thing about the tour!!

Incredible Experience!! - My husband and I had such an incredible time on this excursion! The team at Eco Migrations were super friendly and knowledgeable. Thomas was our guide and along with the boat crew they made the trip so memorable. I especially enjoyed hearing about Thomas’ experience as a marine biologist and how passionate he is about marine and wildlife conservation.
What to expect: You’ll meet up with your guide at the Eco Migrations office. I emailed the team beforehand for more information to be sure I could locate it and they were super helpful. Do NOT use Apple Maps to find the office, use Google maps otherwise you’ll likely end up at the old office location a few blocks away. Once you meet up at the office and get fitted for a wetsuit and gear, you’ll walk together to the docks and meet the crew at the boat. You can also bring your own gear if you’d like, which was what my husband and I did since having high quality fins makes keeping up with the whale sharks much easier. After your group is ready to go, you’ll head out on the water and wait for your boat’s turn to enter the whale shark’s protected zone. You’ll be given a thorough briefing on board about rules, regulations, and what to expect. Only a certain amount of boats are allowed in so there’s a bit of a wait, but it is well worth it. After that, your captain and guide will slowly search inside the zone for a whale shark and once they find one, about 4 people at a time (in addition to your guide) will be allowed to jump in and swim with the whale shark and snap some photos if you’re lucky! You’ll only get a few minutes to swim with the whale shark before you have to get back on the boat and let the next group jump in, so it’s important to swim fast and enjoy every second! You’ll likely get about 3-5 jumps spread across multiple whalesharks depending on your group size. It’s important to respect these creatures’ space and there’s a lot regulations that protect them, so while it would be nice to swim with them for longer it’s understandable why you only get a short time with them. My husband and I did two separate tours since just one day wasn’t enough and we are so glad we did! This was truly a memorable experience.
The only downside was maybe that the water visibility wasn’t great when we went. It was less than 8 ft of visibility, so you need to get pretty close to see the whale shark. However, that was primarily due to the windy weather conditions during our visit and even with that we still had a wonderful time! We will absolutely be doing this again!

Loved our trip! - Loved our excursion. I was nervous and felt like the staff on the boat went out of their way to make me feel safe and have a much better time. The staff were so friendly and full of information. The boat is very rocky so make sure you take an anti nausea medication. I get very sea sick and thanks to Dramamine I was fine, but would have suffered with out it.
