Usually, the whale shark is located quickly, but occasionally it may take up to an hour. Visitors will have multiple opportunities to swim with the whale shark, ensuring a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The entire experience, from entering the whale shark area, lasts about 3 hours.

Departing from the Fiscal Dock in La Paz, the search for whale sharks begins upon reaching the designated area. The experience lasts approximately 3 hours, allowing ample time to swim alongside these magnificent creatures and create lasting memories.

Balandra Adventure- kayak, snorkeling, hiking and lunch with Sergio and Nay - Sergio and Nay were our guides to my friend and me. They were knowledgeable about the area and made us feel like family. They went over the kayak strokes and how to turn in tight preserved areas. I was not too sure of my snorkeling skills and Sergio went over breathing t so I felt comfortable - we saw beautiful color fish and starter reef. Hiking led by Nay was a good pace. What was land turned to water - so fun! We ended up at a beautiful bay for ocean swimming, lounging and a delicious ceviche lunch- I had the veggie ceviche delicious. Our transportation to and from our BNB was great with Fernando. We recommend this group 100/100. A perfect triathlon of events and a great pace and price. We left feeling like rock stars. Thank you MTA for a wonderful adventure. PS whale Sharks was canceled by government due to lack of activity in area and MTA helped us find another adventure which was the Balandra Kayak, Snorkeling and Hiking day trip- we won!

Swim with a gentle giant - Exciting experience, you get to dive in the water with a majestic creature. Unique experience, the guides are very nice and very respectful of the natural wonders of Baja California

A fun experience! - We had a great time on this tour and yes, we did get to swim with a whale shark! Our hosts, Marine Biologist Andrea and Captain Lorencio were amazing. While they are locating the whale sharks, you will enjoy some information about whale sharks, beautiful views of La Paz and surrounding area, and visiting with the other guests on the boat (we had a great group on our boat!). I would highly recommend this experience if you have been wanting to swim with the whale sharks!

Great experience with Mexico Travel Adventures - We went on a couple of tours with Mexico Travel Adventures and recommend them whole heartedly. Our guides for snorkeling with whale sharks were Cody (boat driver) and Omar (diver). They were professional and lovely and did all they could to make sure we had a quality experience. Shorty wetsuits were provided. That said, I think I had unrealistic ideas of the experience. Those pictures of people blissfully swimming in clear water near a whale shark- that is NOT this. This is the whales feeding grounds, and so the water is murky with plankton. Visibility might be 5'. Might be less. Some of the time you are looking at a blob. Our shark was also actively swimming, which means you have to swim quickly to stay up with it. You get back in the boat to rest, the boat relocates and then jump in again for another whale shark sprint. It's tiring. Our guide Omar swam along the shark the whole 30 minutes, pointing to the dark blob so that we could easily know where to look. The sharks are very regulated, and Mexico Travel Adventures seemed excellent in respecting the sharks and following the rules. There were 5 guests total in our tour. We had the earliest time slot allocated, which was wonderful because the water was at its flattest.

Bucket list item - complete! - The tour was awesome! Our guide and captain were super knowledgable and really made sure we had a good time swimming with the whale sharks. They located one first thing in the morning and allowed us to jump in with them many times. Felt safe and supported throughout the tour!

Excellent experience - Perfect organization, kind people and very accurate. Omar, the guide, has done an excellent briefing and managed the snorkeling with kind attitude and competence. Great boat and captain too.

Fantastic whale shark - The team at Mexico Travel Adventure was top notch! Our guide, Maru, was fantastic - a wildlife biologist and expert at spotting and interpreting whale sharks and their behavior. The boat captain placed us perfectly in the path of the whales sharks, and our time in the water with them was absolutely mind-blowing. Our kids (ages 8 and 11) loved the experience and we all felt very safe, even in the presence of these giant fish! The experience was very well managed from a sustainability perspective and we felt like responsible visitors to the whale shark's home.
The MTA office team was a pleasure to work with as well. Very responsive, clear communication, and had us prepped for everything we needed.
Highly recommend the experience and this team!

Family first dive with whale sharks - We had a family trip and the weather was very windy so this really made it difficult for us to swim with the whale sharks. I would avoid this in the future bid you are not a strong swimmer it is intimidating with all the rocking and waves.
Our guide Maru was excellent very informative . We brought extra snacks that we all needed as the trip in the rough water took much longer.This was our first trip the family really enjoyed it we saw many whale sharks a very large one that we were unable to catch it. Overall we had a great trip Mother Nature just made it a challenge as we originally were supposed to dive early and ended up much later that made a big difference as the wind just kept getting stronger.My brothers-in-law did not go in the water because he was afraid he would not be able to get back in the boat because of the waves so that was a shame
I would definitely go again but not on a windy day

Having the whale shark a few feet away a long time - Magnificent experience with the Whale Shark in Peace. We were able to be almost half an hour with 2 sharks, one small and then a very large one, about 7 meters, in which we were very close with the monitor, Marina, swimming gently at the sides of it with the instructions she gave us

Wonderful experience - Wonderful experience, even know the waters were rough. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and taught us so much about the sharks. Thank you Maru.
