Huayna Potosi - Meet at 8:30 am at our office in La Paz, Bolivia. Depart at 9:00 am for Nevado Huayna Potosí, a 2-hour journey by transport. Arrive at Base Camp (4700 masl) by 11:30 am. Enjoy lunch at 12:00 pm. At 1:30 pm, embark on a 40-minute to 1-hour walk to the old glacier for an afternoon session of basic mountaineering techniques on the glacier at the mountain’s base. Practice for approximately 2 hours before returning to base camp for hot drinks. Dinner is served at 7:00 pm, followed by an overnight stay in the shelter at Base Camp.
From the Refuge – Trekking Ascent to Moraine Camp “Las Rocas” – High Camp Refuge at 5,000m.
Huayna Potosí - Breakfast is at 8:00 am, followed by backpack preparation. Lunch is at 12:00 pm, then begin the ascent to High Camp (5200 m.a.s.l.), a 2-hour walk. Arrive at High Camp Refuge by 3:00 pm. Enjoy hot drinks at 3:15 pm to stay hydrated throughout the afternoon. Dinner is at 5:00 pm, with an overnight stay in the shelter at High Camp.
Moraine Camp – Las Rocas Refuge (500 meters) – Summit Day at Nevado Huayna Potosí (6,088 m) – Return to La Paz.
La Paz - The day starts very early, with a wake-up call around midnight. Dress in climbing gear and have breakfast. Begin the ascent at approximately 1:00 am, taking short breaks to rest, eat chocolates, and drink water. Aim to reach the summit by sunrise to enjoy the breathtaking views of the highlands, the Cordillera Real, Lake Titicaca, and the unique sunrise. The descent to high camp takes 2 – 3 hours, where vegetable soup and hot drinks await. Re-pack backpacks at high camp and descend for 1 hour to base camp. Typically, return to the office in La Paz between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
