Personal service, wide knowledge - Caleb picked me up at my hotel in Zona Sur (extra $20) and we started the day off strong with an overview of Bolivian history. This was a more expensive option than many, and I picked it because it offered more services (tickets, etc) . I didn’t want to think about the incidentals and enjoy the tour. Caleb is full of knowledge and can diverge from any topic he’s talking about to get in the weeds on a separate path. Feel free to treat it as a conversation and let it flow. You’ll be happy where it takes you. A pleasant twelve hours. Money well spent.

A beautiful experience - We were looking to combine a visit to the Tiwanaku site and a walk along the shores of Lake Titicaca in one day; this tour met our expectations, and even more. Cadel, our Guide, and his experienced driver, went off the beaten track to give us incredible views. After the visit of Tiwanaku and lunch (excellent trout), on the way to Lake Titicaca, we marked a stop in an old hacienda, now abandoned; a leap into the past and a glimpse of what life could be like for Spanish ‘settlers’. It should be stressed that this one-day tour involves some constraints, in particular crossing El Alto during rush hour and occasional traffic on unpaved roads. In the end, count a dozen hours between Check-out (7:30 a.m.) and return, but the drawbacks are forgotten and the beauty of the sites and landscapes remains.

Excellent Day Tour. Highly Recommend - As an avid traveler that's been to over sixty countries, I'm usually skeptical of tours that pre-package everything into one day, but I decided to take this tour as it worked with my short time schedule. I will say this tour exceeded my expectations and more. We visited some incredible sites and several off-the-beaten path places I wouldn't have been able to get to without our tour guide's knowledge. Caleb was very informative and knew his history. He was also able to explain it in a way that was digestible and relatable to a foreigner without much prior knowledge of the area and its past. As you are in Bolivia (not as developed of a country as let's say parts of Western Europe for comparison) expect the tour to be a bit more rustic in nature. That's part of the beauty of it! I highly recommend!

A great experience in the hands of a great guide. Not or the idle tourist. - Caleb arrived a little late, having had to work with his team arranging two other tours. An American ex-pat, he has lived and raised a family in La Paz for 13 years. He has made friends in city and countryside and speaks with great love and respect about Bolivian history and society. He has also partied with everyone and likes a beer and a cheek full of coca leaves. He is excited and wants you to be excited by what he knows and what he shows you. Get ready for a great and unpredictable day. After slogging through the inevitable traffic snarl of El Alto we broke into the agricultural land surrounding Lake Titicaca and the indigenous communities scattered around it. Expect miserable roads and slow going everywhere. Welcome to Bolivia. We stop by the lake shore in several spots, walk in to see the wet lands, birds, boats, and explore a Spanish estancia abandoned after the feudal period was taken down. All the while, Caleb talks about Bolivian history, culture, coca, travel, Inca, Aymara and Oros civilizations, coca, economy of the area, Bolivian agriculture and coca. We stop to say hello to people Caleb knows in the Village of Tiwanaku. Eventually - and later than he planned, we arrive at the Tiwanaku ruins where we have a lunch of the best damn fresh Titicaca trout, making this one one of the best entrees ever eaten. Gabriella, a native woman with excellent English, takes us through the ruins at Tiwanaku. She has a great knowledge base and offers some funny observations, takes us into the museum to see more magnificent stones and sculptures. The roads back with expert driving were still slow and rough. El Alto is still a mess to get through but our driver maneuvered though to our hotel after a 12 hour day. We had already scheduled a trip with Caleb the next day to descend into the Amazon cloud Forrest - another splendid day. Another story. So, if you want an easy time on smooth roads, don’t go - don’t even go to Bolivia. If you want a rough, authentic and adventurous time, this is your chance.

An Amazing Day Tour In Every Way - Caleb was an extraordinary guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about Bolivia and its history. He was able to show sites and offer inclusions that only a local would know which was a great experience. The destinations were incredible as well as the restaurant we visited. Caleb was very flexible with timing and multiple location stops throughout the day. Highly recommend this tour!

Don't use, felt unsafe - This is quite a hard review to write. Caleb is a nice person with a kind heart, and clearly going through a tough time personally, and clearly knew some extraordinary sites. However, it feels necessary to write what is unfortunately a negative review given that our safety felt at risk. Specifically, he drank 3+ beers (7% alcohol each) throughout the day's drive. Second, he smoked weed in front of one of our group at our first stop. Third, he would text while driving and as such veer between lanes. (Note: chewing coca leaves is totally the norm in Bolivia, and doesn't have negative effects on awareness/motor skills etc).

Guide called late to reschedule - I was unable to go on the tour as scheduled. The guide called me 30 minutes to an hour after our intended start time to say the tour had to start late or be rescheduled. He did try to work with me on times and other days but I already had other things scheduled so it didn't work out. He stated he had been having car issues and issues with Viator as well. This tour has great ratings and I understand issues arise but I missed out on a day of vacation because of this.
