Situated near the southern edge of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, Tiwanaku (also known as Tiahuanaco) served as the capital of a formidable pre-Inca civilization that ruled the Andean region from 500 AD to 900 AD. The impressive remnants of this ancient culture feature numerous temples, a pyramid, symbolic gates, monoliths, and intriguing carvings of faces resembling aliens. The Incas, who arrived later, considered Tiwanaku the birthplace of their deity Viracocha, who emerged from Lake Titicaca’s depths.

This is Bolivia’s most significant archaeological site, showcasing the Bennet monolith, the renowned Gate of the Sun, the Kalasasaya temple, the Akapana pyramid, the semi-subterranean Temple, as well as lithic and ceramic museums, Puma Punku, and more.

Pickups start at 7:30 am for hotels in the downtown area. For accommodations in Sopocachi or the southern part of the city, a meeting point is designated. The tour concludes at the central San Francisco church around 4 pm. The tour package includes transportation, lunch, a guide, and entrance fees.
