- Quartier Saint Nicolas - We walk through this bohemian neighbourhood discovering some of its unique boutiques and bars along the way.
- Eglise St-Sauveur - We stop outside the famous relic of La Rochelle and great example of the effect of the iconoclastic wars.
- Quartier du Gabut - We pass through here towards the end of our tour and see if there is anything interesting happening at the famous Guingette!
- Phare du quai Valin - We stop at this lighthouse and discuss the importance the two lighthouses had on maritime navigation in La Rochelle.

Nice walk - Lovely overview with practical tips. John is very pleasant and well informed. He has been living in La Rochelle over several years.

Excellent would highly recommend. - An excellent walking Tour that gives the opportunity to see some great sites and hear the history of La Rochelle. John our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and provided lots of tips to make our stay the best it can be. Overall a really great experience with a really nice tout guide in a lovely city.

Highly Recommended tour. Fun and interesting. - This was a wonderful tour. I highly recommend it. John was very knowledgeable about La Rochelle. At each stop we saw something interesting and learned about La Rochelle's history and where are the best places to eat, the markets, the beaches and so on. At one of the shops John had arranged for us to sample some of the local liquor known as Pineau, and some of the local Brandy. It was a great introduction to La Rochelle.
I am only disappointed that we were not able to go on a wine tasting tour that John also offers. I bet that would have been great too!

Perfect way to learn about La Rochelle - I only had one afternoon in la Rochelle, this tour was the perfect way to explore the city and learn about it's fantastic history as well as great food and drink tips. Great guide who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and great to chat with.

Highly reccomend this Fun and Informative Tour of La Rochelle - This walking Tour with John was the perfect way to get a quick tour of La Rochelle. There was plenty of photo opportunities along the way as we learnt the history of this beautiful port. John answered all of our questions and also gave some great local tips. We all enjoyed it and highly reccomend the tour.

What to do during a short stay in La Rochelle! - We thoroughly enjoyed John's 2 hour morning walking tour of La Rochelle last week. Just the right level of history and local information within that time. Great suggestion to book the Wednesday afternoon tour of the Town Hall!

History, cuisine and tastings.. - It was a very enjoyable tour and John from Ireland was full of interesting information. I learned a lot about the history of La Rochelle, the cuisine and the specialty drinks that are pineaux. I'm glad I made the effort to come out in horrible weather! 😊

Enjoyable tour with the perfect, friendly guide. - Highly recommend that any visitor to this lovely city of La Rochelle book a tour with John. He explained the rich history and culture with an interesting and engaging storytelling style during our 2 hour, well paced stroll. John has a wealth of local knowledge and was happy to share tips and suggestions on things to do and experience during our stay, as well as giving many opportunities for us to ask questions. Due to John’s pleasant personality and informative anecdotes, this tour was extremely enjoyable.

Nicely presented tour from a well informed guide in this beautiful city!! - Would definitely recommend this tour. John had loads of interesting information on all the places we stopped in what was essentially an informal chat while strolling around this beautiful place. It was our second time in La Rochelle and the only regret is that we didn't do the tour the first time. We would have been far better informed on where to go and what to see. We also took some of John's recommendations for bars and restaurants and they were all winners. Only slight gripe is the price. €80 for 2 of us is on the steep side.
