Hands Down Best Excursion! - Our family of four did this excursion last week in a tropical deluge. As we were climbing into the raft the skies opened and soaked heaven and earth. Trust me when I say it only made the experience that much better. Of course, it didn’t rain the entire time, but it wouldn’t have made a difference. We were never cold. We felt incredibly well supported by Travis and Diego. Diego was our super charming guide. He speaks great English, knows the river like the back of his hand, and was really fun to be around. Our twelve-year old twins were nervous at first and ended up having a total blast. Travis was in the safety kayak, making us feel well taken care of and providing amazing photographs of the excursion. These guys have been kayaking together for a decade or two and seriously know what they are doing. Friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

The perfect vibe - Travis and the guys were fantastic. His place is right on the river so you get an additional 2km of river to raft. We wouldn't have changed a thing. Lunch up the street at Rusti Ticos (per Travis's suggestion) isn't to be missed and completed the perfect adventure. Pura Vida!

Best rafting company in Costa Rica! - I had so much fun on the first rafting trip, I came back a week later with a friend to share the experience! There are so many rafting companies in Costa Rica, and it’s hard to know what you’re going to get. Travis and Amelia run a wonderful operation, starting with the parking and facilities. Private, secure parking, with nice little walking trails (we saw toucans!), and clean bathrooms and changing areas. A great safety orientation from the guides makes you feel comfortable right away, and the walk to the river is just 2 minutes! The trip was super fun, and the guides seem to know every rock and ripple in the river. Not to mention wildlife! We saw sloths thanks to the guides that I still don’t know how they found - they were so hard to see before they were pointed out! Dozens of iguanas, tons of bird life, and howler monkeys! Also a white faced capuchin. The class III rapids were super fun, but the space between rapids was enough to enjoy wildlife. We had a chance to get out and do some optional cliff jumping, plus a snack break with pineapple. A wonderful trip! Its a great boutique experience - rather than the 20 boats you might join on the Pacuare with other companies, its just your boat and maybe one or two others - it feels very personalized. Highly recommend!

10 of 10 - I should not have waited so long to take this adventure. - Kayakers- Interested in class 2 to class 5? Travis and Selva Adventures provides an amazing opportunity while your visiting Costa Rica or just plan a bunch of days for kayaking. I organized a last minute trip to Costa Rica with 4 days of whitewater kayaking. Travis was immediately responsive to emails, provided amazing options for boating, great kayaking gear, professional guiding, amazing knowledge of the area and of course extremely safety oriented. Besides providing a professional adventure, he was personal, provided great local information and was very helpful when i experienced some transportation issues. My only regret is that I waited so long to go kayaking in Costa Rica. I will be returning very soon. Selva Adventures is based out of La Virgen and the Rio Sarapiqui. There are other creeks and rivers that are in the same area which provide any level of whitewater or calm water adventures. You can visit anytime of the year because the river flows are most often higher during each day because of hydroelectric power generation. So whether you want to inflatable kayak, raft or hard boat Selva Adventures can accommodate. The local people, food and prices were an additional bonus. Great fun for the whole family. - Amazing experience! Went as a family of 6 for the first time and did the level 3 experience. Great for kids as well as adults. Our guide David was great. He made everyone feel comfortable and made lots of jokes along the way. He pointed out all the animals along the river, such as monkeys and birds. We stopped at around halfway through the tour and were given delicious fruits and cookies. A really fun experience.

Great rafting experience for the whole family - Today we went on a rafting trip with our 2 girls (10&12). It was a fantastic experience for all of us! David is an amazing instructor, making jokes, but also sharing his knowledge about the beautiful surroundings of the river. The rafting was exciting as well as save. Thank you David and Ronaldo, we really hope to be able to come back here in a few years!

Educationally Exhilarating…! Sounds like an oxymoron but the rapids were great, the guide was educating.. - Be ready to get Soaked!!!! If you are looking for adventure, great company, professionalism, Selva adventures is it. Our guide, David was fantastic, gave clear and concise directions while rafting. He was able to spot wildlife (monkeys), butterflies and identified all the bird species we saw. Worried about your camera or phone getting wet? No worries, Travis kayaks ahead and captures many memorable photos with his camera; for free! My husband and I had a great time, I would highly recommend.

Way more than expected . - We had an amazing time on our 11 km river rafting adventure, which offered more than just rafting - we got to see a variety of birds, snakes, and even deer. Four of us went on this rafting trip for the first time, and we contacted Amelia for information about how the tour works. It's about a two-hour drive from San Jose. Upon arrival, our tour guide, Mr. David, gave us clear instructions and was an excellent guide who shared his knowledge about the birds, flora, and fauna in the area. Travis, the owner, also joined us on the trip and took lots of photos with his SLR camera from his boat. The team was friendly and informative, and their house was beautiful - we hope to stay there on Airbnb next time.

Rafting Adventure - We cannot say enough to compliment the fabulous rafting experience with David and Ronnie. Everything was VERY professional and we felt safe and well taken care of during the experience. David is an expert guide on the water and knows the river well so we had much excitement and no fear. He pointed out much fauna and flora that we would not have even seen had he not directed our attention. Ronnie accompanied us in his kayak snapping pictures at the most opportune moments. We were given the downloaded e pics as part of the package at the trip's end. It was fun watching Ronnie trick out in his kayak. David and Ronnie treated us to a delicious pineapple, mango and cookie snack halfway through paddling which gave us time to stretch after 2 hours in the boat. We ended with a delicious tipico meal. This river trip was PERFECTLY planned. This was a true highlight of our 8 day Costa Rica adventure. Pura Vida David and Ronnie!
