- Jamaica Zoo - The Jamaica Zoo is located in Locovia, St. Elizabeth, and is owned by Mr. Paul Fearon. Growing up with a veterinarian father, Mr. Basil Fearon, Paul developed a deep love for animals. By the age of 12, he began collecting various animals beyond the usual pets like cats and rats. In 2001, he imported a pair of zebras, followed by llamas.
He initially started the zoo at his residence in Santa Cruz. As his collection grew, he decided to move to a larger location. By 2004, he relocated his animals to a 158-acre property, utilizing approximately 25 acres with plans for further development. Driven by his passion for animals, Mr. Paul Fearon decided to share his collection with the world, establishing the Jamaica Zoo, originally named “Value P Zoo.” The zoo features over 30 different animals and birds, with 25 different species, and plans to expand in the future.
Although his family wanted to name the zoo after their late father, Mr. Fearon chose to honor his country by naming it the “Jamaica Zoo.” The logo, featuring a black elephant, symbolizes power and intelligence. Visit the Jamaica Zoo to learn more about its history and enjoy the diverse array of animals.
