• Vermilionville - Walking through our 23-acre living history museum and folklife park will transport you back in time, landing in Acadiana in the years between 1760 and 1890. Come and meet our costumed artisans who are demonstrating trades and crafts exactly was they would have been performed in this era. You’ll hear the stories of the Native Americans of the region, the Acadians, and the Creoles and people of African descent, learn about the region’s history, and discover how their cultures developed into Acadiana’s unique contemporary folklife.

Located on the picturesque banks of Bayou Vermilion, Vermilionville spans a lush 23-acre landscape adorned with trees and boasts 19 points of interest, including seven meticulously restored original dwellings complete with artisans in period attire conducting demonstrations of crafts practiced by Native Americans and early settlers. It offers visitors an immersive experience into history, music, food, cultural interchange, historic architecture, amongst other things. Vermilionville has a self-led tour format that allows you to navigate through its many features at your leisure.
