Highlights
  • Adventures of Jean Lafitte - Embark on a journey through a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) expanse of tidewater cypress swamp near the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Glide across the shallow marshlands in your flat-bottomed vessel, as you’re serenely steered along the waterways. Explore the bayous bordered by moss-draped cypress and tupelo-gum trees while your captain highlights an array of wildlife. Experience a fully narrated excursion by a knowledgeable local guide.

Anticipate encountering numerous alligators during the hotter months (and on the warmer days of winter), possibly observing them basking on logs! Your guide might feed the alligators, providing exceptional moments for photography. Be vigilant for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons, and ibis. You might also spot a hawk, owl, or bald eagle. During the colder seasons, watch for white-tailed deer, raccoons, and the sizable rodents called nutria.

Great tour with small kids! - Great tour! Air conditioned bus ride to Jean Lafitte, quick bathroom break then pics and onto the boat. Our boat was covered which was great since we booked last minute off our cruise and while waiting for our hotel room to become available, so no sunscreen or bug spray (would recommend you wear both). Guide was informed and entertaining. He knew where to find and entice the alligators near our boat, and we even saw a leatherback turtle and raccoon! Once back, there was time to buy pics if you wanted, another bathroom break and grab snacks Belle boarding bus back to town. Our family gives this tour 2 thumbs up!

Nature is beautiful - The beautiful scenery and the calm ride back to the dock was the most memorable part of the experience for me; however, seeing the wildlife interact in its natural environment was about equal. The tour guide had some interesting historical facts, juicy gossip, and fun jokes as well.

A great experience - The hotel pick up and drop off service was fantastic, and our bus driver was super friendly and knowledgeable. The pontoon tour was absolutely amazing – we got up close and personal with some gators, and the driver even fed them, so we got some incredible videos!

Boat ride too short - So much wasted time. Boat ride advertised 2 hours but only one hour on boat. Waited an hour after bus arrived to get on boat. Otherwise a great trip

Pretty good tour - The tour guide was a little harsh on people. He demanded people were quiet while he was talking. I felt like I was in middle school. Otherwise, it was organized and enjoyable. We saw lots of alligators. The adult beverages were a bonus.

One time experience - The tour was okay, but maybe my expectations were a bit high. I was hoping to see more wildlife other than few alligators and two raccoons and it was hard to hear the guide with all the noise from other tourists

I did not enjoy the... - I did not enjoy the guided tour. The tour guide was racist. He gave the white people marshmallows to throw but when I asked for one he straight up told me no. I will never book this again. I wish I could get my money back.
