Midway along the route lies El Foyel, a quaint town within the El Manso community. Roadside kiosks offer coffee and food, and there are cabins and inns available for accommodation.
A few kilometers further, the Guaitecas community, descendants of the Mapuche, can be found. They showcase a wide array of handicrafts on weekends. Just before reaching the town, visitors will encounter the Carved Woods, a unique art installation that transforms the remnants of a burnt forest into artistic creations by local artists.
One of the town’s main attractions is the craft fair at Pagano Square in downtown El Bolsón. Here, visitors can observe artisans crafting items such as metalwork, pottery, wooden pieces, knitted goods, stained glass, knives, jewelry, and much more.
Two tours depart from El Bolsón. One heads to Lago Puelo National Park, located 16 kilometers (10 miles) from El Bolsón, straddling the provinces of Río Negro and Chubut. The other tour goes to El Maitén, where visitors can ride La Trochita, an old steam train that draws tourists from around the globe. The train travels 45 kilometers (28 miles) along the tracks. Be sure to check the train’s schedule before visiting.
For those with their own vehicle, the Azul River viewpoint, Mallín Ahogado Valley, and Cerrito Amigo viewpoint are recommended stops. Additionally, the Patagonian bird species exhibition, the rock museum, and nearby waterfalls are worth exploring.
