Amazing! - This tour was amazing. Our guide was very organized and gave us lots of clear instruction and information about the landmarks we were seeing. We got to go inside the Benagil cave along with a few other smaller caves. The views and experience were unbeatable!

Amazing Kayak Adventure of Benagil Caves - We just had the best experience enjoying a wonderful kayak tour with a small group of 12 led by José and Julio. Both guides went out of their way to make sure everyone felt happy and comfortable as well as ensuring we all had fun along the way throughout the tour of the beautiful Benagil caves and surrounding scenic coastline. We highly recommend this as a must do experience to anyone visiting Carvoeiro.

I recommend - Great kayak ride, to Marhina beach and the Benagil caves, our guide José was great, he spoke French throughout, the explanations were very clear, we had a great time, and discovered landscapes magnificent!!

Walk in Paradise - Superb walk, the guide José sent us to “Paradise” cave just as beautiful as the famous Benagil cave but more confidential.

A bit dosappointing. - The attraction itself is fine, the places are worth visiting but it’s not good value for money. On the website it said it was supposed to take 2h 15min (approximately), but we were on kayaks exactly 1h. It was disappointing.

A great experience ruined by red tape? - Have kayaked at Benagil each summer for last 3 years. Been so good we chose them again the next year. All was good again this year except they require you to go with a guide now (said rules have changed(. I guess that will be the case - health and safety gone mad (another company said the same). However that totally changed the nature of the experience. Previously we have gone out by ourselves, chosen our route and timings, and visited lots of caves as well as marinha beach. This time we were part of a group of 20+ people. The guide (who was very pleasant) set the route. He took us all into the big cave and said we are staying here for 40 mins. All just stood around waiting. Nothing to see after 5 mins. Possibly not all your fault if rules have changed but still no need for such a long stop. Having booked up 3 years in a row I now would not do this again unless we can go on our own. Really disappointing!

It wasn’t a tour and... - It wasn’t a tour and there was no guide. It was a kayak renting for more money (10 euros more) than kayak renting costs.

Cancelled by the operator the same morning - The very morning of the excursion the operator cancelled the experience without giving any explanation. Writing on whatsapp he replied: "we are with many people".

Monumentally disappointing experience visiting caves by kayak - This was a guided kayaking outing but there were too many kayakers in our group. We booked for rental of kayaks but then told we must go with a group. For experienced paddlers, it was an exercise in torcher waiting for everyone and the guides were rude and didn’t explain themselves. Then a massive argument erupted between a guide and 2 kayakers and we floated for 15 minutes while they hollered at each other. The caves are not spectacular when there are hundreds of people crowding in them. It was a definite let-down.

Amazing experience ruined by rude and unprofessional guide…. - I had booked with Andre Matos to kayak in a group tour with the guide to visit the beaches and caves including Benagil cave. I booked this experience for my boyfriend as it was his birthday and he works as a Doctor in the UK. I really wanted this activity to be special as he adores canoeing, hiking and history. We arrived at the ‘meeting point’ at 12:20pm as stated by the tickets. However, we could not find Andre or his team. We asked two other kayaking vendors as to where his location is based which was a very vague description of ‘somewhere in the car park’. Eventually, we found someone in his team in a plain white van, no uniform or anything to highlight he was part of the Andre Matos kayaking team. We were given our equipment and sent to the beach to board the kayak. We had booked the group kayaking experience with a tour guide due to our lack of knowledge about kayaking and we wanted to feel comfortable with making mistakes so at least we had an expert with us. The team member was extremely rude and unprofessional shouting at us saying ‘Jesus Christ, I thought English was your first language, obviously not’ because I did not know which end was the front of the kayak was. During the trip, several comments were made in a sarcastic way berating the way we were paddling, calling us stupid during the tour and upon exiting the Benagil Cave he said ‘Finally, you’ve done something right Jesus Christ’. Upon handing back the equipment he completed ignored us and no pleasantries were exchanged from him. We said thank-you and to have a lovely day and tried our best in Portuguese to show respect but we were ignored. The experience itself was amazing, the caves were stunning and the guide did have amazing knowledge of the historical side. However, the unprofessionalism, rudeness and lack of respect ruined the entire experience and my boyfriend is now quite upset on his birthday. I will NOT be booking with this company again and I would urge others to visit other companies as they appeared to be more professional and kind.
