Desert Safari - This tour was ok, we were picked up 1hr and half later to the scheduled 3:30pm Instead of 2pm. Therefore we did not see the desert view , it was already dark . Camel safari included is not worth, it’s just one round circle (last less than a minute) . The shows were amazing and the dinner was great.

Tourist trap! - Should have read the bad reviews beforehand. It’s a tourist trap. So many extra charges! The driver picked us up at the hotel. Great. We went to a place in the desert where you could pay extra to almost die. I mean, driving a quad bike without a helmet, without safety instructions or age limits and surrounded by a bunch of people who don’t know what they’re doing either… dangerous! We saw one quad tip over and another one driving into a third quad when watching for just ten minutes and we couldn’t see what was going on further away. There must be accidents all the time! They also know they can charge whatever they want for ice cream and water in the kiosk… Then off further into the desert to switch cars and get driven through the dunes, dune bashing. That was fun and included in the package. When we arrived at the camp in the desert the real tourist trapping began. Some dude put a scarf on me and then charged me 25 dirham to take a picture of me in it. I got to keep the scarf but the picture was then 50 dirham to buy. There was a short camel ride included and you could pay for a longer one. The camels looked like they weren’t being treated very well. Some sand boarding was also included. Then we entered the camp. If you want to sit on pillows by low tables it’s free, if you want a chair at a high table in the VIP area it’s 50 dirhams per person. Then you also get a better buffet and a shorter way to the same toilets as everyone else. But most of all you don’t get harassed by all the salespeople. They want you to buy different types of souvenirs, drinks and snacks, shisha (Arabian smoking) and ice cream. And they Just. Don’t. Quit! I don’t know how many times we said “no thank you” during the night, to the same people over and over again. And then it’s time for dinner. Bbq buffet. Right! First you get one piece of falafel along with some undefined spicy stuff and a sauce as an appetizer and then you get some pasta, potatoes, vegetables and rice. Oh, and ONE tiny drum stick of chicken. That’s all the meat in the bbq buffet. Included in the meal there are small cups of unlabeled soft drinks. Water is included all through the night but the soft drinks aren’t available until dinner. Then there’s the entertainment. One dude spinning around in interesting clothes, one belly dancer who wasn’t very good, one fire show which was very cool and another belly dancer who was a bit better but who wanted audience participation all the time, which made some people very uncomfortable. And then the driver came by our table and wanted to make us give him five stars. When he saw my grade he said it wasn’t necessary to give a grade at all. We then got to go home and the driver almost fell asleep and drove into oncoming traffic for a second. Luckily we got back to the hotel in one piece. If you’re willing to pay extra for everything you may want and you want the complete desert experience in an evening this is for you. If you get uncomfortable by sales people this is not for you.
