Situated in Pakistan’s extreme northern region, Skardu, the core valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, stands as a symbol of magnificence, tranquility, and wilderness. The Shigar Valley, nourished by the Shigar River, is a valley in Baltistan, in the northern part of Pakistan. Shigar town is the valley’s most significant settlement. Despite its remoteness and limited accessibility, the Shigar Valley harbors several villages. Askole is the Shigar Valley’s last settlement, yet it remains quite distant from the towering mountains. Previously an administrative sub-division of the Skardu District, Shigar is now its own distinct district.
