The Vernon Wine Tour promised an indulgent escape, and it delivered in spades. The cozy picnic area, overlooking the serene lake, was the perfect setting to savor their award-winning whites and reds. It was here that I truly appreciated the unique terroir of the region, a blend of climate, soil, and tradition that gives Lake Country wines their distinctive character.

Gray Monk Estate Winery, our next destination, was a revelation. Known as Lake Country’s most iconic winery, it offered a glimpse into the region’s rich winemaking history. The Lookout Restaurant, with its panoramic views, was the ideal spot for a leisurely lunch. The pairing of their exquisite wines with the culinary delights on offer was nothing short of perfection. Each dish was a celebration of local ingredients, expertly crafted to complement the wines.

Our final stops, Ex Nihilo Vineyards and Intrigue Wines, were a testament to the art of winemaking. At Ex Nihilo, the bold reds were a standout, each glass a journey through the vineyard’s soul. The guided tasting was an intimate experience, allowing us to delve deeper into the stories behind each wine. Intrigue Wines, with its inviting patio and charming gift shop, was the perfect conclusion to our tour. The wines here were easy-drinking, yet complex, a reflection of the passion and creativity of the winemakers.
