Beautiful island colorful fish - This was a very popular but well organised tour. Started early. We were given breakfast (canteen style) . Good variety of food on offer. We were allocated a wrist band which dictated your boat / group. Our guide "Way" was brilliant! I can't stress how good he was. There were many boats, all looking the same. He made ours stand out with a large puppet hanging on the back. This meant we always knew which boat was ours. The snorkelling was brilliant. There are so many fish plus coral. Waters were so clear. The islands were also beautiful, pure white sand. Such natural beauty, both above & below the water. We were given lunch. Again, canteen style. Very busy, but we'll organised. A little messy, where some people weren't tidying their own plates away. But that was not the tour operators fault. Once we got back, we were fed again. Good choice of food. Again busy & canteen style; but we'll organised with a nice selection of food. The team on the boat were excellent!! You don't have to be a strong swimmer or experienced at snorkelling. Help is at hand. Helpful, informative & fun. I can't stress enough how great the team were. Special thanks to Way - an excellent and natural team leader; Reggae for his pleasant friendly help & Sky - quiet but confident manner . All of the team are a huge asset to this tour. I hope the tour operator let's them know this. Thanks for an amazing day.

The beach was great - The islands were amazing. The trip however though was ok, we only went to 3 islands and for the price it cost, I expected a bit better, especially the lunch. The crew were amazing though!

Similan Islands Snorkeling Trip - We had a great journey. The boats are crowded by Western standards, but the crew was fun, and super organized. More children than i would have expected, but luckily all well behaved. And the water was clear and reef beautiful.

A good day out - Seastar are a very big operation with a number of boats doing the trip. Bo, Dada and the team did a good job looking after us on the speed catamaran and the islands. It took an hour on the boat to get to the first island and 90 minutes to return. We went to 4 islands and had 2 snorkelling sessions of 40 minutes each, which we loved. Lunch was okay and Seastar also provided food before we went and on arrival at the end of the day. It was a good day out. We booked the trip locally for THB2,500 each including pick up from our hotel in Khao Lak.

Some things to keep in mind - The water at Similan Island reminded me of Western Australia’s nicest beaches, and the snorkelling areas were fantastic! Just some things to keep in mind, the ‘Speed Catamaran’ was about 50+ people crammed onto a very tight fitting and enclosed boat. You are required to have all of your belongings, aswell as your flippers, snorkel, towels, and life jackets either on your lap or somehow at your feet if you are lucky enough to be small enough to have room. There were no fans inside and unfortunately with such a large number of people in such muggy conditions when the boat wasn’t at full speed it was extremely sweaty and hot inside the boat. Unfortunately for us there was also a very large amount of young kids who screamed and cried the entire time. We booked this as a couple wanting a quiet cruise around the islands, not exactly what we got however this is no doubt the case with most cruises around the islands, as there were dozens of boats leaving the harbour at the same time. The water, beaches, sea life and swimming did compensate for it to a significant degree. We saw thousands of fish, even a few turtles which we got to swim with for a while. Really nice sea life, and the staff were very capable of looking after some of the others who couldn’t swim at all. They were towed around the snorkelling spots with floating devices. The organisation of the whole day was 10/10, from snorkels and fins, to food, to water supply, to departure times, lunch, and drop off back to the hotel.

Mediocre but worth it - Just some things to keep in mind… There are 20-40 people on the speedboat. Seastar is very crowded, and the food they feed you is not the greatest. However, how many times in your life are you going to see the Similan Islands? The price of the excursion was reasonable, and I would book it again just because of the location.

Too many people, too much waiting around - The spoed boat seatings were uncomfortable to sit in and the boat was fully booked. No room to move anywhere. The lunch was not very good - too much food go to waste. The places we visited on Similan where packed with people - not very paradise-like. Also, LOT of waiting around at the pier both before and after the tour.
