Great experience! - My family and I had an amazing experience with Grassroot Tours.
On a recent vacation to Ghana, my family and I wanted to explore the northern region, but we only had family and friends located in Accra. Since we would be going alone, I looked for a tour company that would ensure a smooth and seamless experience.
From the get-go, starting with booking, Isaac was very accommodating, answering all my questions quickly and patiently waiting for my booking confirmation due to a delay in getting our visas as well as a flight cancellation.
On the tour itself, our guide Emmanuel was kind, patient and very knowledgeable. He took care of transportation, tickets for the safaris, etc. It was great to explore the region worry-free, not having to think about a thing.
Accommodations - Zaina Lodge was significantly more expensive than Mole motel but I’m glad we went with this option. The lodge is beautiful, the food was good and the room and view was a dream. On our last night, an elephant came to drink from the fountain at the front of the resort and the workers called us from our room to ensure we saw the epic sight.
Safaris - this tour includes 2 safaris. We had a great time on both and saw several elephants on the afternoon driving safari. An added bonus is that Emmanuel was a former safari tour guide himself and was able to provide us with additional information and facts on top of the official safari leader.
Overall, great experience and highly recommend!

Really good Ghana tours - Great experience on a 3 day safari to Mole National Park and a 2 day trip to the Cape Coast. The guides- Emmanuel in Mole and Isaac in Cape Coast- were both excellent. In addition, Isaac really helped adapt the trips to ensure we were able to add things we wanted additionally, such as a visit to Global Mamas to try batik making on the Cape Coast. All in all a great few days. I’d really recommend using them.

Humbling experience being with animals in their natural environments... 🐘🐗🐦⬛🌳 - As a solo female traveler, I found the entire experience to be very safe, as well as flexible based on my interests. It was truly humbling to be in the presence of elephants, antelopes, and monkeys, among many other creatures - all of which were not in captivity but in their natural environments. Birdwatching is not one of my hobbies but I felt excited observing ones I've never seen at Mole Park, so if you're a birdwatcher, this is the place to be! I'd say the park also speaks to plant lovers - I was in awe of the different uses of the plants and I couldn't stop taking whiffs of their scents as I went on the walking safari. I had also taken the jeep and night safaris , and I guess I was just very lucky that I saw the majestic elephants on every one of my treks!
We also visited places outside of Mole Park. Getting a tour of the Mognori Eco Village was very insightful with their preserved practices and ways of living, especially with their environmentally conscious, no-waste production of shea butter. While we didn't see any pythons on the canoe ride, it was still a pleasant paddle in one of their traditional canoes. Seeing and listening to the origins of the Larabanga mosque was incredible, given its long history as one of the oldest mosques in West Africa.
Isaac was my main guide along with Thomas who was in training. Both were very attentive and kind. I'm grateful for Isaac's patience, as I had asked many questions about Ghana's biodiversity, history, people and current issues. I felt I was in good hands and the whole experience went mostly at my pace, which was important for me.
I stayed at Mole Motel - excellent A/C, fan and bed. The pool was a delight to cool off while the sun was out! The shower could use a lot more pressure but it still gets the job done. Isaac made a good call to pick up snacks before entering the park because food items are pricier at the motel. In terms of meals, you'd just have to pay their rates, which isn't too outrageous. (It is though, compared to what you get in the city.) Just make sure that when you sit down at the outdoor dining tables, watch for baboons creeping around to grab your food. It happened to me, but hey, it was definitely an experience, attempting to scare away a baboon by yelling at it but instead watching it jump on the table while hurling itself at my bread!

Best safari in West Africa - We had an outstanding time traveling with Grassroots to Mole for safari. Isaac, our tour guide made the whole trip seamless for us, from airport pick up to purchase of bottles of water, and arranging for us to stay in a hostel when we arrived the day before the tour started. He was very prompt and helpful with all email communication prior to the trip. Once there, He was full of information and answered all of our many questions about Ghana throughout our time. We were very thankful to just be able to relax and not worry about the details. The Mole Motel was a fantastic location to stay at! While the motel stay is rustic and very African in feel, you can’t beat the proximity to the wildlife. We were met at the park and hotel entrance by several elephants who wandered through the motel grounds and lingered for a while. Baboons, warthogs, and bushbucks were also frequent visitors. While it seems like the rainy season is not the best for seeing the numbers of elephants, we still saw several very close up and every morning saw several bathing in the waterhole nearby. We enjoyed the couple safari drives and canoe tour as well as the description of how shea butter is made. Isaac offered us several additional cultural experiences near Mole and Tamale too. I would definitely recommend traveling with Grassroots tours!

Elephants are Best, thanks to Grassroot Tours. - his was an action-backed tour that deserves five stars. Isaac from Grassroot Tours was (is) a great tour leader and I had a super experience with him. He was always on-time, open, flexible, and full of interesting behind-the-scenes information about life in the northern part of Ghana. Seeing the elephants up close on two walking safaris was the absolute highlight. I could observe their habits and interactions, and just loved every moment. It was also interesting to observe how Shea Butter is made, plus take a canoe ride on the Mole River. And on the way back from Mole National Park, we stopped by Ghana's oldest mosque with its Mali-influenced architecture, and had time for some souvenir shopping before I boarded the plane back to Accra from Tamale. I have hundreds of photos and lots of wonderful memories that I will treasure forever. I heartily recommend Grassroot Tours.

Great and varied 3 day tour - It was a beautiful tour, where we thoroughly enjoyed the ride from Tamale to Mole NP. With Isaac you have the best guide you could wish for. He talks a lot and arranges everything in consultation with you.
He had a good car with wonderful air conditioning. And upon arrival there were already 2 bottles of water ready. Mole Motel is in need of renovation. The air conditioning did not work in the 1st room and the shower in the 2nd.
But other than another very expensive Lodge, there is no other alternative in Mole NP. The food, staff and atmosphere were good at Mole Motel. I highly recommend the 3 day tour.

Great solo tour to Mole - I had the best time with Isaac! Grassroots Tours coordinated an incredibly smooth and relaxing trip for a solo traveller like me. Isaac was kind and enthusiastic and had great answers to literally every single question I peppered him with throughout my trip (he is so knowledgeable about everything!). Everything was easy - the booking process, the pickup, the tours themselves. We were able to get up very close to elephants and it was also really interesting to see the local eco-village. I had a great time and would recommend this to other travellers, solo or otherwise. Thanks again Issac!

View from Mole Hotel over the Park was the highlight. - I really enjoyed the visit to Mole National Park with Grassroots tours. Isaac was very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome and at ease, Mole Hotel is basic and the food is expensive, the best thing about the hotel was the view over the park which is absolutely stunning. On the Safari I was a bit underwhelmed as we only saw antelopes, birds monkeys and one elephant. Overall I would say it was a good experience.
