Challenging with unbelievable views! - The hike was the hardest I have ever done but the scenery and experience was much worth it. 8 miles of constant hiking up and down the mountains was challenging and the last hour back was the hardest. It took us 7 hours round trip and my legs were feeling it.

Worth to join! - It is well worth to visit the boiling lake. However, this trekking is tough and I suggest people to have some exercise (if you do not do exercise) prior to joining the tour. The guide John was very friendly and made explanation of nature.

Incredible hike! - The Boiling Lake challenge was SPECTACULAR! A highlight of our trip. Our guide was Anton, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly: we learned a lot about Dominica and its local plants, wildlife, geography, culture and foods along the hike. We hope he writes a book. He was great company and one of the best guide experiences we have ever had. The hike itself is challenging but rewarding. The views are incredibly beautiful and varied to the point of sensory overload. We highly recommend the Boiling Lake challenge to any hiker who is interested! Thank you!

Boiling Lake and Titou Gorge - A breathtaking fitness challenge with natural spa treatments. - I was so glad to have met the challenge of hiking 6.5 hours to the Boiling Lake and swimming in Titou Gorge. Kudos to Hubert Winston the tour organizer, who prepared me mentally and got me back on my cruise ship in time! Also big thanks to Pablo our guide, who made sure we slowed down enough to enjoy the breathtaking mountain and rainforest scenery (and natural hot tub), and was a responsible protector of the safety of the other hikers. You should be fit and have good footwear - I had rugged Keens but low light hikers are likely best with long socks. At 63, I was happy to be able to keep up with a young couple several decades younger (thanks Peloton!). There are several ascents and descents with a beautifaul panorama mountaintop stop. Some of terrain was tricky with hand-and-foot scrambles and handy-branch grabs. The Valley of Desolation has to be seen to be believed, reminiscent of Milton's phrase, "...a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven." The Boiling Lake is a grand finale vista for all the hard work - then back thru the hell/heaven of the VoD (watch out for those hot stream crossings and steam vents!). The natural hot tub with hot waterfall was a wonderful respite and felt like being in Eden (gracias Pablo for taking us there). Finished up with a cool swim thru Titou Gorge and its own pummeling waterfall. Mission complete, body was beat, but Challenge achieved! Back on the ship, I booked massages - and all was good.

Amaaazing! - Absolutely stunning and a must if you are in beautiful Dominica. Antoine, our guide, was great and this kind of experience is definitely only to be done with a local guide, don´t go on your own!

Humbling and Exhausting yet Wonderful - Quick background…we’re in our mid 50s, healthy and active. This hike still took us seven hours (including breaks and lunch) in near perfect conditions. Our legs were sore for three days afterwards. So…communication prior to the trip was outstanding. We packed light food and each carried two liters of water (my wife and I both ran out an hour from the finish). Hubert offered to pick us up at our rental and gave a memorable history lesson about the island, points of interest and the hike itself. We picked up our guide, Pablo, on the way. A short drive later we hit the trail. Thank you Hubert for lending us trekking poles! This was our first hike ever and we didn’t even consider them but now know it’s a definite must-have. Right out of the gate we climbed and climbed. It was humid and we worried about finishing. We fell into a rhythm and the higher we got, the cooler it felt and the slight winds were pleasurable. Pablo was helpful whenever we needed it and always pointed out the best/quickest/safest path. We passed workers making the hike to a job site in the forrest where they’d be for ten days! We lunched at the lake which actually sounds like a very hot boiling pot of water on the stove (I could write an entire essay on that oddity) and then headed back. There were loads of interesting stops (waterfalls, springs, climbs, Valley of Desolation) and it made the time pass quickly. We were tired about 3/4 of the way through and had wobbly legs by the end. Then Pablo (possibly overestimating our abilities?) offered a quick trip to Cathedral Falls. We said sure and 30 minutes later we were thrilled and in absolute awe of this sacred place we descended upon. This was exceptionally kind of him and he gained nothing by this additional excursion (except our respect). When we finally climbed back up, which was much easier than down, we were DONE. Well worth the time and effort and we’d love to do it again. Hubert picked us up and we were grateful he drove because we were pretty worn out by the time we got home. I highly recommend Waitukubuli and whale watching was scheduled for the next day!

Must do in Dominica - This was my second activity with Hubert- fantastic hike, loved every moment. The nature, the color, the insight and passion about wildlife Hubert has, all enhance the experience.
Boiling lake is a great hike, there are a lot of incline/ declines. The terrain is largely laid logs as stepping stones, but on some parts there is a little bit of scrambling over rocks and walking through lakes. The trail wasn’t busy, we saw 3 other groups (circa 15 people) and helped people along the way!
On the way back, it did start to rain but again this was fantastic to hear in the rainforest and bring out your inner child to get muddy!
Overall was a fantastic hike in Dominica, definitely the highlight of my trip.

Hike to The Boiling Lake - An excellent days hiking. Even though we had a lot of rain in the beginning it rather added to the experience of hiking through lush tropical forests.
The ups and downs of the hike were quite strenuous and i was tired by the end. There were a few difficult parts and a need to scramble over rocks and use available ropes to make it easier.
The view of the boiling lake was worth the effort and i would do it again. The beauty of raw nature is just amazing.
Almost as good as the boiling lake itself, we bathed in a hot water pool on the river during the journey back. We did not want to get out and would have happily spent a few hours relaxing in this magical location.
The hike was a little over 6 hours with a good walking pace. It was a great day and very memorable. Our guide Hubert was excellent, he kept us safe and he knew the path very well.
