Highlights
  • Korsatunellen - Our meeting point is at the entrance of the “Korsatunnel,” located between 7-Eleven and Fisketorget. Look for me holding a sign with “FOODWALK”, eagerly awaiting your arrival. To ensure a smooth start, please aim to be there at least 5 minutes before the tour commences.
  • Fisketorget Delikatesse AS - Our first meal will be at Fisketorget. It’s a very famous local restaurant known for it’s fresh fish dishes.
  • Kongens gate - After eating our first meal, we continue with a captivating stroll through the city tunnel. Here, we’ll regale you with fascinating tales of Ålesund’s rich history and the intriguing lives of its residents. Continuing onwards, we’ll explore Kongensgate (Kingstreet) and pause briefly at the enchanting Pavilion.

The Pavilion offers a splendid panoramic view of the city’s harbor, providing an opportunity to appreciate the picturesque Art Nouveau architecture and peruse charming local shops. As we continue along the harbor’s edge, we’ll introduce you to some delectable local delicacies.

  • Stuen AS - Our next stop is at Stuen, which is a famous local diner cafe that has been around for more than 60 years! It’s a great place for a quick meal, but also nice if you want to sit down and hang out.
  • Brosundet i Alesund - Brosundet is renowned as Ålesund’s most iconic photography spot, and yes, we’ll capture some memorable moments. We’ll also lead you to the perfect vantage point. Here, you’ll savor a taste of Norwegian “Klippfisk” before we unveil one of Ålesund’s hidden gems.
  • Molja Lighthouse - Our adventure concludes with a visit to Brosundet Hotel, Molja, and a special secret gem.

You’ll have the opportunity to savor more local flavors, including the unique “Skillpadde” turtle cake, a delightful local confection from a nearby bakery (no actual turtles involved!).

Great food! - We have done food tours in many towns and we love them! This one was great too but it’s a lot of fish in different ways to eat it. We could have done it in a less hour too, it was kind of slow.

Thoroughly enjoyable - We spent a most enjoyable 3 hours on our guided food walk. Rigmor was a wonderful guide giving us some great insights on traditional foods in Norway and some of the history of the town of Alesund. She also took us to a few interesting spots we certainly would not have ourselves.

Great Food Walk with local Alesund foods - My wife and I were the only participants on our Food Walk with Rigmor, our guide. Rigmor did a fantastic job talking to us and getting to know us. We very much enjoyed the food selections: mostly typical local fish dishes. The fish and shrimp soup at the Hotel Brosundet was out of this world! We are very glad we took the tour and highly recommend it. Thanks Rigmor!

Food Tasting Tour - Guide was very good and the different foods and restaurants were fun. Guide went out of her way and took us to a grocery to purchase brown cheese. Interesting city and background. Meeting place could have been better. It was in the middle of a construction project.
