Highlights
  • Skodje Bridges - 5. Our first stop will be the old Skodje bridges. We stop on one side and you can hike through the area over 2 bridges and a tunnel. The bus will wait for you on the other side.
  • Liabygda Ringsetskiftet - 10. ViewPoint by the sea On our way to ViewPoint by the sea, we pass the old Rose Church in Stordal. Built in year 1789. Another fantastic ViewPoint close to Liabygda. Down to the left, you can see a salmon fish farm, to the right, we see the town Stranda where the Grandiosa pizza factory is located. Across the fjord, we see the fjord going to Geiranger and Hellesylt. Up on the mountain to the left, you can see the mountain farm Skrednakken. This is the farm our Norwegian Queen Sonja visited some years ago. Don’t forget to take some nice photos.
  • Gudbrandsjuvet - 20. Gudbrandsjuvet is a river gorge in the river Valldøla. The watery river flows between gorges and cracks in the mountain and meets from rather unexpected angles, before it flows under the bridge and plunges further down the valley. The gully is partly formed by several large potholes. The water feature is a tourist attraction, and platforms and bridges have been built in a mixture of glass and rust-corroded iron in both walls and floors. Here is a cafeteria and also free toilets available. You must try their Salmon baguette. So good !
  • Krikebrua - 25. The old bridge by Krikebrua Mother Nature ! I think this is one of the most fantastic stop on our trip. We stop on a small place with a free toilet and some benches for rest. Then we hike together about 3 to 4 minutes on the other side of the road. There we will see an old bridge (built in 1891) and a gorgeous waterfall and river above. The bridge is built of rocks only in 1891. No concrete or steel inside the construction. Please use the bins in the bus for your garbage.
  • Trollstigen - 30. Trollstigen ViewPoints is the main stop on our trip. There are 2 ViewPoints available, one is about 5 Minutes of walking, and the best one is about 10 Minutes of walking from the bus. The path to these viewpoints is laid in concrete and has solid safety fences around it. A souvenir shop and free toilets are also available in Trollstigen. There is also a cafeteria selling sandwiches, coffee and soft-ice cream. Hot meals are available here.
  • Valldal - 80. After our stop at Trollstigen, we have to go back again against Valldal. We plan for a stop there with restrooms available.
  • Fjellstua Viewpoint - 90. Aksla Viewpoint is our last stop this day.
We stop for photos from the most famous viewpoint around Ålesund.

A+ on every level! - Breathtaking views and our guide Trong was awesome, mixing in cool facts with a great dry sense of humor. The smaller size of the vehicle also made it more enjoyable than a full-size bus. Can’t recommend this tour enough!

Five Star Treatment - On June 12, 2024, my husband and I were scheduled to go on The Land of the Trolls tour. It turned out that my husband and I were the only two people who had reserved for that day. Instead of cancelling the tour, we had a private tour where the driver of the car (whose name was Morden) acted as both a guide and a driver. It was a fabulous experience and we loved being with him. Perhaps even more importantly, we were so impressed that instead of cancelling our tour, alternate arrangements had been quietly and seamlessly made. Judy B.

Our favorite tour in Norway! - This tour was AMAZING! So many beautiful stopping points with ample amount of time to explore and snap photos. Even though the Troll road is closed coming back down, additional stops were added to compensate. Trond, the guide, gave lots of information as he navigated us through our journey, and kept us all on time, making sure we were back to the ship on schedule. I would 100% recommend this tour.

Most scenic tour ever. Best one of all of our excursions. - The most scenic excursion ever better views than even cruising on norway cruise. Even the Trollstigen zig zag road was closed, my sister, my daughter and I thought the scenery to Trollstigen were just breathtaking. The tour added extra stops at other fjord areas to make this our top excursion. It was worth every $$ we spent. Trond was informative, knowledgeable, funny, very timely and easy going your guide/driver. We had lots of bathroom breaks and food breaks and stretch your legs breaks (short easy hikes). It was foggy at view at sea but Trond made extra effort to make another stop so we saw it when he drove back to our cruise ship.

Absolutely fantastic - book this tour! - I cannot say enough good things about this company, the owner, and the tour guide. It took me forever to get off the cruise ship today and I was a few minutes late arriving to the meeting spot. I ended up not being able to find the group, but when I finally got in touch with the owner, Trond, via phone, he came down to meet me, and he went out of his way to drive me personally to the first stop of the tour to catch up with the group. I cannot get over the amazing guest service and going above and beyond. I figured I was out of luck, but he completely saved the day and guide Morten was incredible! if I’m back in Alesund, I will absolutely use this company again. And a tip to all others, if you are coming in on a cruise ship, give yourself at least 45 minutes to get off the ship!!

It could have been a better experience. - There was only one tour guide for 3 buses and you can only hear him talking from the radio plus all the chatter of the tour guide and other passengers. There were times that we could not hear the tour guide because of the radio signal. It was kind of annoying.

No time to see things - On the bus most of the day. Stops were very quick. No time to take pictures. Always in a hurry. Guide was on other bus. Couldn't ask questions.
